Hi all, thought id share my latest purchase as im keeping a fair bit off it. Just finalising transaction now, got delivered sunday.

Basic rundown

1993 BG8Z 4wd familia chassis
Prepped by Taylor racing in mid 90's with
Full seam welded body
Full welded in cage going through firewall and gusseted to A/B and C pillars
Excessivly lightened, no sound deadening, no un neccecary parts
converted to budget spec manual windows/no mirrors/no heater/fan
Albins 1-5 Dogbox with steel bearing reinforcement plate
Sach's copper plate clutch
Unknown build GTR motor, freshly done
2x unknown bucket seats, RPM harnesses
PROFLEX suspension, freshly overhauled with external shockie cannisters
Custom front hubs housing FD rx7 brakes with 2 piece rotors
Custom rear hubs with Familia gtx front brakes on rear
MoTeC group 2 morse tapper ECU
Compomotive rims etc etc
Pedal box/hyd handbrake/bias valves etc etc.
+ all the usual top end rally parts + spares package.

Plan is to sell the stuff i cant use (dogbox, motec, brakes, rims, motors) to offset most of the cost of the car, and ill soda blast the bare chassis and prime it ready to start prep when i bin my track familia.

She certainly turns heads driving it on the street, and with plated diff, dogbox, and no sound deadening she is rattley as all hell.

Your fucking mad... why would you get rid of the bits that sorted out the weaknesses of this car?

Either way I love these cars... they're what the GTi-R's should of been :D

Dogbox or not, im trying to run 400+whp and launch. the Dogbox in this car would be fine for 300whp or so but thats about it.... more than that and we are pushing. Adding to that ive just finished converting my whole driveline to toyota E150 gear, which has now been proven to handle 20+ passes at 400whp. And repeated 2nd gear heli's (see green gtr from nz on youtube).

Im keeping the proflex for mine and selling the kyb/swiftsprings. And keeping alot of the competition prep. I already have bigger brakes.

Well if you think you've got it under control, I'm not going to argue... I look forward to future updates :D

Nar, pinching various parts off it for my other gtx, keep the chassis in tact, soda blast it, build it up over time for time attack.

Very nice mate. A good mate of mine owns and runs the ex Maitland 1988 Familia. Great car to rally.
He actually has a full light pod for it that he is not using complete with four new Cibies. Are you after something like this? Would it fit on your newer GTX?

Update,

Drove it around for 2 weeks or so on permits every few days. No issues at all, noticed an issue with a lower control arm bush on the rear. And thats about it.

Gave my friend a drive while i closed the workshop up, told him how to shift a doggie. Hear him go down the end of the street and grind the shit out of it to get into 2nd. Box now makes noise, suspect 2nd dog. Pulled engine and box out wednesday night, looking at atleast 1 gear and a box rebuild.

Doh, atleast the new owner gets a fresh fresh rebuilt box.
