get a bittorent program like Utorrent or Azureus and then you just search for torrents on some torrent sites, download the torrent open it in program and it will start downloading, you will need to Forward your ports to get really good speed though.

torrent is just downloading software and a way that it downloads pretty much.. instead of just focusing on one song at a time for instance each file is broken down into the little pieces..

your program will start downloading all these little pieces kinda like jigsaw puzzle till at the end its got all the pieces and the file to complete

can be paused stoped.. continued all at a later date "aslong as its still got a source file available on the web.

one of my favorite torrent sites is http://www.demonoid.com/files/

although you will need a invitation.. if u want one send me a pm with your email etc i can send you one.

demonoids mint but beware the ratios.
mininova is open, good and easy to read.
pirate bay is good, but personally i find it harder to read ( but its what your used to)
it depends what your chasing, movies, music, games?
i use utorrent as a downloading program, its easy to use, used to use azereus but there is a lot of useless stuff in it and found utorrent is faster at downloading.
to start with, always check your comments on the torrents your looking at and you pretty much can't go wrong

Utorrent also uses less windows resources and crap, and lighter.

and small to download etc, and easy to use.

Try and get onto a private torrent site. You get much more seeders so faster download. I use Bitsoup, you just have to maintain a good upload/download ratio otherwise they boot you out.

Bit comet... been using it for years,

if you want anything ever released off TV the best site is http://eztv.it/ just check it every three days... you will get everything literallly 2 hours after it is screened in the US... all simpsons, american dad, family guy, comes out around 4 - 6pm mondays. All your south park, heroes, house, my name is earl and others come out during the week..

you want to get the files which are good quality but small in size as Australia is fucked and charges us on how much we download. Also be really careful who you download from... if its a zipped .zip or .rar file there could be virus's ect... music and videos should be .mp3 or .avi files..

yes you can start getting hectic and getting other types but stick with these and ull be ok!

oohh And i tend to use Mininova for movies and only download from a uploader called aXXo... do a search for his name and only download where it has his name in RED as the uplaoder. I dont get why but there is a lot of people who put fakes up.. downloading a 700mg movie which is nothing but static is FUCKING GAY!!

Good Luck!

uTorrent ftw.

Download uTorrent then use www.mininova.org to find whatever you want.

Just remember, you can only download torrents to back-up your legitimately purchased software, music and DVDs. That is what I do, I back-up my collection of legitimately purchased items onto a number of hard drives, and store them away never to be used....only as a back-up, nothing else.

whats peer guardian?

I use tvtorrents.com for all tv related torrents. invite only of course. but need to have uploaded 11 gig worth of stuff to invite people. rarely downlaod at speeds less than 500ksec. usually sits in the 800's. just the standard bittorrent program is pretty good.

A freind of a freind uses Vuze (azereus)
Use Mininova for most movies. Use This aXXo (http://www.mininova.org/user/aXXo) All his movies are awsome quality.
Use isohunt for movies and tv shows also. but check the comment before you download.

and remember to setup the firewall correctly

torrents use a range of ports usually random high ones, either open them up and forward to your ip address, or set your ip address as a dmz

utorrent and peerguardian for me

I use to use mininova, piratebay and isohunt heaps but now I keep an eye on these sites,

rlslog.net
zerosec.ws

they save you looking for torrents and review the quality of everything. movies, tv, music and apps.

Saves downloading of crap torrents like the fake axxo's,
occasionaly links are to private trackers but then u just copy and paste the torrent into mininiva or isohunt and it will give you torrent :-)

Public trackers are generally shit for speeds because everyone just caps their upload to 5k when seeding torrents. Get some geek mates and one of them should hook you up with an invite to a private site.

On the topic of uploads, make sure your ISP doesn't include your uploads as downloads. Your quota will get chewed before you can blink and you won't be able to keep a good ratio on private torrent sites :)

good call, also use the scheduler in utorrent to only download in your off peak times, so you dont chew your peak quota which is usually heaps smaller. If you want the download there and then just force it to start :naughty:

uploads as downloads === why i didnt switch to iinet naked?, is this still the deal with iinet naked?

If your an uncaring bastard and don't care about ratios. You can hack your ratios up using software like RatioMaster if you do it carefully

+1 for 'Scheduling'. Highly recommend it, makes on peak net surfing a lot smoother.

You can cheat with torrents... load one up in uTorrent and let it connect to ~50 seeds/peers, then right-click on the torrent > properties and delete everything in the Trackers window. The torrent will continue to download but won't send any data to the tracker, so you essentially get a free torrent and your ratio isn't affected.

Once it's done just add the torrent again and the tracker is updated with you having the complete file and you start seeding :)

Should have got a spot in RFlan this weekend http://rflan.org/

I've been there and WALAN's quite a few times, for games and leeching. Come back with fkn hench amounts of media/pr0n. Couple of my mates are heading there tomorrow for the whole weekend... I'll prob end up leeching off em next week.

I heard Torrents as we know it will be coming to an end soon (like Kazaa and others before it). They're cracking down on heaps of sites.. A bunch of guy's are facing charges of up to 1mil, and 1 year in prison. Link:

http://torrentfreak.com/the-pirate-bay-trial-the-verdict-090417/

So yeah, better get downloading before they're all gone :P

It would be VERY difficult to shut Torrents down as it's not a "centralised" P2P network like Kazaa/Napster .etc They could be shut down as they were reliant on connecting to a central server.

So ... yeh.

Yeah that's what i thought. I've just been told that by a friend who's hella paranoid about internet piracy laws and etc. And follows all that file share news like people follow the football.
