Hey all, my name's Mike and i have a EA falcon (dont kringe!)
been in the build for about 18 months now and is a short way off being boosted as im just waiting on parts to be mailed down now and then all the stuff put on.

I have been on some other forums like Pertheseries and triple-d as i've i been on a few cruises round the place, thought i'd join up seeing as there are some pretty mad modded cars running round. wish i bought a supra but o well, lots of cash has gone into this and cant stop now...

some pics for now at various stages of completion... hope top see ya's on a cruise once i got boost!

for now a list of things done and things in the pipeline...

mods done
Engine
-EB multipoint engine with oversized ACL race pistons, rings bearings, shotpiened rods and crank, chemically cleaned, balanced and blueprited to a EF/EL race harmonic balancer, running EF/EL accessaries.
-Crow Cam's stage 2 turbo cam and crow double valve spings.
-EF/EL thermo's and craige davies thermatic switch thing.
-all new seals, gaskets etc
-lukey xtractors and 2.5inch cat and 2.5inch lukey zorst
-K&N pod filter (dosent count for a mod i dont think tho)
-adjustable cam timing sproket
-pretty blue 9mm topgun leads

Driveline
-T5 manual with heavy duty clutch
-changed to LSD with 3.23 raito and speed corrector

Rims
-Avanti 'punch' 18's
-lowered

Exterior
-painted green with gold pearl and green flake one half and black with green flake the other, tint, clear tail lights and indicators, moddifed front bumper.
-painted brake calipers

Interior
-painted door trims, and consol etc
-gauges (boost, water temp, oil pressure and air fuel ratio)
-blutooth pioneer headunit with pioneer attachment thingo to run USB
-pioneer 12inch subs (2), pioneer 6x9's (yellow cone ones), 6.5inch pioneer splits (yelloe cone ones), 2 monoblock pioneer amps to run subs, and 2x 2channel amps for speakers.

Things to come
-Have garrett gt35/40 ordered and waiting for arrival
-have bosch 42lb injectors and bosch 044 fuel pump waiting to go in.
-SSQ BOV and intercooler piping made up
-75x230x580mm intercooler
-38mm KKR wastegate on it's way (10psi spring)
-manifold still being custom made
-still need ECU and tuned once all is installed

should make some decent power once finnished (hopefully next few weeks depending on how long manifold will take and time off work to get the thing tuned)

I personally don't like the colour at all, but at least the car will have balls to back everything up. Good luck with it!

quick tip(s) - maybe mutliple - unsure yet

firstly) the top gun leans MAY cause issues in the future in terms of spark, its been widely noted with falcons, the NGK 8mm ones work a lot better/have better quality/and are cheaper

2) get yourself a wideband O2 sensor - so your AFR guage is accurate :)

and with ECU, if there is a tuner down in albany who you trust, go with the ECU they recommend.

a LOT of turbo e-series use the EMS range, a handful use Eliminator Chip, some use Autronic, 1 uses wolf (:p), and i know that XR8U (XR8 turbo) uses haltech with no issues..

so yeh, the ecu brand doesnt matter.. find a good local tuner ... if that exists down in albany :)

Even quicker tip...

Pay no attention to what this ^^ guy says. 3 years of massive R&D on his boosted EF =

*17 sec ET's
*Failure to spin a 15" wheel on the road, let alone 2
*An even bigger fail at doing a skid on the snakepit
*Car spends more time off the road than a ground up resto project

Haha
well maybe he's giving advise from ALL the mistakes from the EF, and from what i have read and herd, he should know about every problem a boosted falcon can have...

Matt, i dont trust any tuners down here, so i'm probably gonna bring the car up on a trailer and get it tuned in Perth, and i was thinking EMS, i'd rather spend the extra coin and get it done right.
also i dunno about hp figures but whateva the max the gearbox can handle i'd imagine, i'd hope for the coin i've spent for atleast 300 at the treads but well see, i know this turbo is capable of making much more, it's the driveline that will be the issue.

I cant believe there are so many haters about the paint :-P i guess you'll have to see it in person..

have to say i love gettin on here for shits and giggles, so many funny theads

heya, welcome..

good choice getting the tuning done in perth. At least it will be done right the first time.
We have a so called "TUNER" down here that has never tuned a car but is a full bottle on it. (fucking has no idea) to put it simple.

The turbo arrived the other day and it's alot bigger than i expected, but by looking at Tocci's thread it's only a small turbo compared to some!
Have any of you boosted falcon boys found that you had to lower your compression? I have a head shim here, but i didnt put it in when the engine was rebuilt because i wanted to bed the rings in etc and drive around with the car N/A whilst still saving funds..

yeh mines really waste on a 4L... unless the motor can rev out to 7500/8000rpm which it cant without a LOT of money spent

ben (fritzz), steve (red eb turbo) and somebody else (cant remember name) are running Dev5 setups - which are high compression.
its all in the tune... saying that... bens running 400rwkw+ on a stock bottom end with a high compression motor
*edit* and steve's turbo EB ran 514.8rwhp on the stock bottom end... it eventually died... but that was after about 30,000km of thrashing i believe

What power has your stock GTR got & what boost does it run from factory? I'm sure it has similar power levels & runs more boost, plus it's a factory turbo charged car meaning everything is synced to the turbo, unlike with this EA that has standard NA driveline...

how much boost do these things run stock? and how much rwhp do they make stock? your car would be different though in that mine wont rev as hard as yours, but my engine would probably produce more lower end torque? may be wrong?

i herd if you drain the oil you can gain abit as well cos it's less weight, and taking off the filter cos that's extra weight you dont need, hey matt? maybe thats why you ran a 16 second quarter...

I'll remember to remove the sterio then when I take it down the strip then!

is it cheating to remove the rear seats, trims, etc as well? suppose it has to be 'street trim'?

I have about 180kgs of stereo in my boot + doors, dont see the point in taking it out when I go to drags because you never drive your car around the street/cruises with it stripped out.

Maybe for a fast friday or a hi-tech meet or something like that, but why bother on a wednesday night :)

bit of an update ladies..

I'm gettin the Brass button clutch off Tocchi EF cos atm it's slipping pretty bad once try to get some power running through it.

Also got a 4inch pod today to replace the 3inch and the bit on the intake that reduces from 4" to 3". Also will be looking to get an AU gasket soon and go for another tune at about 15 psi or so... would hope for close to 400rwhp (and yes i sourced a spare T5 gearbox)

Also with my BOV, it's like china spec SSQV rip-off, when i hit boost and take my foot off the accellerator it goes PPPppssssshhhhhhh and doses as well, isnt dosing bad for the turbo??
would a proper HSK BOV have more/better airflow and stop the dosing?
or can you add another BOV to stop the dosing (like run 2 BOV's)?

Also was supposed to have the screamer plumbed back in this morning, but will be done at the end of the week now.. I will be able to take a piece out and return it back to a screamer if i want at a later date though. As cool as it sounds, i think it's for the best being plumbed back in.. Ill add some pics later.
