As if I didn't have enough shit and crap in the back yard and enough projects, things just keep coming out of the woodwork - opportunities which I want and are cheap enought in a sense to get.. just require some wrench time.
This has been on the cards since i've had the shell dropped off at home and so it all started with this:

not much to look at as yet... i know...
but recently I had this delivered home... the donor car...

still same number.. LOL.. wasn't sure what will happen to this one but then mounts came up for sale, so i saved up and got them and now the motor and gbox so its ON! LOL plus im leaving it unlicensed for the track, with spares from the other CRX like shocks etc..
B16A - would be nice to get a B18C - maybe one day i can get a decent block and then its just swapping them around - leave the B16A head on the B18C block.
Mods - at the moment stock standard everything but first thing might be LSD maybe. Should be good anyway 130whp in a 800kg shell.

glad uve seen the light adam :)
mike, whats the benfit of fitting a b16 head to a b18 block... it doesnt raise c/r or have different ports.

Simon,
B16A head is said to flow better than the B18C head so there is potential benefit there. Many people who do a B20 conversion also use the B16A head for that same reason.
Adam - much more displacement in the wallet too! Im quiet happy filling up for $50 and not $100 to travel the same distance.

is said to. though proven real world results have shown there is no gain in hp or torque.
Mike, my supercharged and intercooled V8 running well over 300HP@ wheels uses a lot less fuel than the old B18cR i had.
But that point aside, the b18c engine is better than the B16A. Hence the reason why i cheekily mentioned the displacement cliche. Yes the 16 head flows better but it lacks serious torque. 158Nm vs 178Nm. We know i can write an essay on this but the end deciding factor is your wallet.
Fuel prices and economy aside, you need to decide what you really want from the car and where you're going to use it the most. :cuddle:

thats just 1uz greatness. i had 1uz cressida it got over 650kms to one 60l tank with the shittest tune.
mikey best head option: skim it. cams. mugen gasket. done
I think the answer has been given Mike,
Find a 1uz 4.0l V8 and transplant it.
Its been done (NOPI - in the states)

Simon: I haven't found any printouts which have a HP/Torque comparison between a B18C block with B18 head or a B18C block with B16 head - simply because i haven't looked for these printouts - but its known that the B16A head flows better thats all. Im looking into some manual Cams from NZ as well as a manual ECU (cheap stuff there than here).
Adam: you're comparing my stock B16A to a worked B18C to a stock V8 SC Soarer... the worked B18C had its Nuts worked off - no wonder fuel economy was BAD.
You started comparing a stock 1.6L to a V8 and now the B18C. in terms of torque - of course it will be different between 1.6 and 1.8 and a B20 too..
Im building a budget track car - im not trying to beat any records. Have you seen Gavs B16A Civic? That as a car and driver combination is a record breaker for a 1.6L Vtec :)
4L V8 motor... i did think of sticking a 13B in there...

Bit of an update - the racecar will officially be mine on thursday! It will be going to a friends workshop where i'll install the B16A motor and other bits and make it track legal.
The Shell is a MUGEN built CRX - back in 1980 and raced by Mugen, brought to WA in 1989 and raced locally.
