View Full Version : Recovering speakers
in my infinite wisdom i have been using some indoor speakers outside, "i'll be fucked if they think i'm paying extra for the outside ones... "
well turns out that there not very good outside and the vinyl covering has shunk and is peeling off.

Peel it all off, and spray paint the sides black then clear over it?
Disclaimer: may not work very well, and I take no responsibility for any damage to the speakers :P

never thought of that, could work if you spray a couple of coats of primer filler

i got some from kmart the other week :)
Thats what you get for buying Bose shit!
Nah seriously, You'd be better off re-covering them in vinyl as per 'pro' stereo installations. Buy the shit from trimmers/spotlight.
Cut the vinyl down to do all 3 sides at once, Mask the front, spray both the speaker box and the vinyl with spray glue and sit the biggest size on the vinyl(top), then strech the other sides over and then trim it down.

Contact adhesive & car audio/marine carpet will last ages. Vinyl will only turn out as photos show over and over. Paint is probably the best option, you need to keep the wood dry at all times, so the easiest too. Mask, paint, done.

you put bose speakers outside!! jesus as long as it doesnt rain!
old house had a big timber deck maybe 60m2 with full roof over timber screens on the two side walls, so they where never going to get rained on. i guess humitidy/mositure got to them over winter
still not the brightest place to put internal speakers
