Dutton has changed its name to the Australian Tarmac Challenge.
Got this as an e-mail today. Entry fee last year was about $2300, and this year its apparently cheaper.
16-18 October
"The Australian Tarmac Challenge!
Formerly the Dutton Rally, the Australian Tarmac Challenge (ATC) is the old Dutton you know – but we have had the old girl on the treadmill, down to the plastic surgeon and onto the weight training.
New ownership, new location.
The Australian Tarmac Challenge is located in the Fast Track Australia corporate headquarters at 119 Salmon St Port Melbourne, with our new team as follows:
Anthony Moss – Series Director
Rennie De Maria – Managing Director
Mat Ishac – Series Operations Manager
Mark O’Connor – Technical advisor
Kurt Stiles – Motorsport advisor
Our team will still be assisted by James Taylor (Clerk of Course, Race Solutions), Bruce Foote (Scoring- MDB Consulting) and our many volunteers and officials who make Australian Motorsport possible.
What makes the Australian Tarmac Challenge different:
Firstly, the old system of Handicap and Outright Championships will go – and in comes a completely new system – Street Production, Club and Motorsport Championships. All three will have equal weighting and equal significance. Don’t want to bring the GT3 Porsche or the EVO IX MR? Bring the M3, the HSV Clubby, or even the Mazda 3 MPS instead – the Championships are designed to encourage anyone to enter and compete on-par with similar vehicles.
Secondly, the events have changed. Some dramatically, some only slightly. Our credo is to provide you with the most motorsport activity we can fit into 3 days at great venues, and this is what we will do. If its not a motorsport venue, we will make it one – and this will become evident as we progress through the 2009 Series.
We will head to Western Australia for event 3, for more fun at Collie, Perth Motorplex, AHG and Barbagallo Raceway. Don’t think Perth will be tame though, we are aiming for a complete shakeup of Collie, Motorplex and AHG – think head to head, mate against mate timed challenges and you will start to get the idea.
Confirmed 2009 dates are:
Event 1: Victoria 29-31 May
Event 2: New South Wales 3-6 September
Event 3: Western Australia 16-18 October
Now we know that some of you will be thinking that the 2009 Motorsport budget is not looking too good at the moment, and you might think that all this sounds great, but will probably cost more right? Well, WRONG! The 2009 Series will be even more affordable than ever with different events different costs, and our low-fat Tarmac Challenge Diet designed to make it more affordable for you without taking out any motorsport or any fun stuff. Some of the dinners have gone, but we have replaced these with 10pm presentations at local pubs each night. The media stuff will stay and we are looking at more ways to promote your sponsors online and with video footage, with more options for you to choose in each package.
So hang up the race boots and park the full-blown racing car. Steal the daily driver from the wife and come and have some fun with us!
We will be releasing pricing, packages and full schedules in the next week or so. Of course if you want to make a deposit to secure your entry now, don’t hesitate! We envisage 2009 will be a huge year – bring on the 2009 Australian Tarmac Challenge!
See you on the black stuff.
Cheers,
Anthony Moss

Can just do the WA round. If you want to compete in the series you have to 2 out of 3 rounds as it was last year.
Doing it again this year ... see what happens to what car we using.

I'd be expecting it to be in the $1800-$2100 range for a single entry.
around $2800 for a Driver and Co-driver if you have someone else who wants to split costs.
(Just guesses, as last year it was $2,300 and $3k)

I'm not sure about the 'epic value' part.
There's no Wanneroo, no AHG, and I'm not sure Collie has been booked?
$990 for cones in a carpark would be shit, but I'll wait until there is confirmation of the events before I decide yes/no.

Its going to be a pretty lonely event, a lot, read the majority, of the regular faces are not bothering...
theres only a couple people ive spoken to who'd normally drop everything to enter the event that are actually competing...
i don't think a confirmed date is even released as the dates they have listed currently collide with other events being run at the various venues..

He has confirmed Collie Motorplex, AHG, Kwinana Motorplex & Barbagallo as venues.
So far he hasn't seen many entries, most likely due to the State Sprint Series Championship on the Sunday & the uncertainty of the events & locations.
He's going to send out an email to everyone within the next few days with an event schedule to try and spark up some interest

Agreed. Would rather focus on the driving rather than "do I go left or right of that cone".
Can someone explain how if a Evo/WRX can be eligible for Street Class?
1. STREET CHAMPIONSHIP
Class S1:
All V8 or Forced Induction 6 Cylinder vehicles
Class S2:
All AWD vehicles
Class S3:
All vehicles over 3000cc not otherwise classified
Class S4:
All vehicles under 3000cc not otherwise classified
MODIFICATIONS v PENALTY CHARTS
Brakes (Excluding Pads) 1
Exhaust * 1
Hydraulic Handbrake 1
Induction (Excluding Air Filter) 1
ECU 1
Suspension (Excluding Springs) 1
AWD System 2
Engine Modification 2
Performance Car List 2
Weight Saving 3
R Rated Tyres 4
Rally plate or Unregistered Vehicle Permit 4
Power to Weight > 180Kw per tonne 4
*Exhaust modifications exclude exhaust system from catalytic converter back.
Performance Car List
Mitsubishi EVO
Subaru WRX STi
Ford FPV
Holden HSV
Porsche GT3, GT2
CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Street Championship – 3 points and under
Club Championship – 10 points and under
Motorsport Championship – over 10 points
So street class is 3 points or under.
Evo: 2 points as a performance car
AWD: 2 points...
Boom already into the next class? May as well run coils, exhaust and r-comps.
Also, no GTR listed in 'perfomance car list'? That would really let you smash the street class open.

Denver
21-09-2009, 04:31 PM
renta rex is still kicking along, just did the torque trophy at wanners on the weekend actually..
mainly, started a new job, and the date at the end of of oct clashes with it, as ill be away, the confusion about the date and what they have booked put me off, and having not worked 4 months this year, and with ivan racing we can't really justify the 6k the weekend costs this time round, plus im actually trying to get the 33 finished, so the money spent on dutton delays that project again, so ill give it a miss this year, and hopefully next year ill have the rex sorted to the point i want it with decent diffs all round and a good box in it, as im sick of giving away time with the crap diffs it has in it, and the fear im gunna strip a gear any second, and give it a big hit next year

Sunday finishing up at speed dome should be good... thank god they got rid of the Glouster (spelling) park stage this year.
Initial Scrutineering is the Thursday night in Collie which is worrying if your car doesn't pass for any reason... doesn't leave any time to get it sorted out.
Make sure your fire extinguishers have been checked and tagged in the past 9 months too as this will be picked up in scrutineering.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN ROUND POSTPONED
Due to a date clash in the local motorsport scene in Perth, the Western Australian Round of the Australian Tarmac Championship has been postponed until 2010. The Round will be replaced in the 2009 National Series by the "One Day" event to be held at Lang Lang on November 21.
Whilst extremely disappointed in having to make this decision, we feel it is the right one to make for all competitors given the circumstances of the clash. We would also like to assure our supporters and competitors in WA that the Round will be back in force in 2010.
Entry fees received for the WA Round will be refunded in full or, if preferred, the deposit can be rolled over to next year's event.
We would like to thank our WA competitors for their advice and direction on this matter. We assure you that the decision to postpone was not made lightly and we look forward to a sensational WA event in 2010.
Kind Regards,
Anthony Moss
