well i assume it's the deck. all my speakers stopped working just recently but the deck works fine. it can't be muted either because you can't mute the deck w/o the remote - my remote was stolen.

before i take it into a strathfield or whatever, thought maybe some peeps might know something.

Take it down to Rob @ Volatile Customs first :)

Last time I took a car to Strathfield for a stereo install, the deck was installed on the piss and it stopped working the same day. Took it back and was told to "GTFO, not their problem".

Hey Mate,

You will probably find there is a speaker short somewhere. If there is, then the deck will feel the short and shut down the inbuilt amplifier.

Did you add an amp at any stage? The reason I ask is that Pioneer decks have a big problem when you add amps. They have a weakness that is in the amplifier stage of the circuitry and when you add an amp, -12volts of earthing is run back from the amp to the deck via RCA leads. The deck can't hold up to this and tries to earth itself back through the RCA leads and then burns out the ground tracks on the internal amp circuit.

This causes engine whine, interferance and worst case scenario, silence....

Feel free to drop it by and I'll take a looksie for you.

Rob
