OLSKOOL1800

Hey Guys,
I just thought I would post some pics up of my Mazda 1800 that I have almost finished.
I raced out today to get a few pics, so this is the best I can come up with at the moment.
Thecar wont be everybodies cup of tea but I built it in a style that I like so that is all that matters. I have never been one to imitate.
The theme or style of the car is based around the Mild Custom type cars of the 1960's.
I have always found this look to be appealing so I thought I would apply it to my favourite Mazda shape.
Before I go any further, this car is not my award winning white Mazda 1500 that wore the same plates years back, this is a completely different car.
My brother Clayton aka Mr RX3 is responsible for most of the build and he completed the task over a few months in his own time.
Without him I would have never had this car built or the list of my other rides.
His talent always shines!
He is the best brother a guy could ask for!
I just want to say that the car is not a show car but rather a daily driver.
The driveline remains standard whilst the majority of the modifications are on the body work.
I wanted maximum visual impact with limited cash outlay.
With this in mind, the car has been completely shaved
No door locks, handles, fuel filler, seams, vents or pressings.
The front and rear beavers have been smoothed and various Mazda 1500 parts have been fitted.
My brother panel and painted the car himself whilst a mate of mine, Hamish, did all the welding.
The car is sprayed in the new PPG Vibrance range of paints.
I went with a two tone because I had a vision in my mind that I knew would work with the whitewalls and the rear blind.
With out the white roof the other colour wouldn't pop either.
The main colour is Sunshine Yellow over a Pure Gold Base and the white is a custom blend.
It is exactly what I was after!
I love it and my brother did an awesome job.
Aswell as the cool paint I had my mate Tony aka Von Kustard stripe the car.
Those stripes are hand painted and were done without a guide or an outline.
To watch this guy in action, is something else!
I think the black, red and the white stripes work well with the paint, the wheels and the stickers.
The tyres were the most expensive purchase for the car.
I wanted the massive white band so I just wore the cost.
The 14 inch BFG's are equipped with Mazda RX5 rims.
I had the rear of the rim modified so it would fit the hub neatly and then the edges and lips polished, they were painted satin black and then the new wheels nuts were fitted along with a bullet centre cap.
I think the set up looks awesome.
They have old school appeal to the max!
Other bits and pieces on the car are the lake pipes, the bullet headlight covers, the bullet number plate bolts, the blue dots in the rear lights and a few other trinkity bits :)
The interior remains basically standard just with a few stickers and an earlier style wheel.
The audio system is in and functional but the boot install has not been finished.
I ran out of cash! lol :)
I have a few more things to do but that will be over the course of the year.
I am not in any sort of rush...
Like I said earlier, not everbody will like it but it doesn't phase me.
I didn't build it for anybody else, I built it for me and that is all that matters.
Not everbody wants the same old thing...
Hopefully I haven't bored you to much with that amount of bullshit.
Finally I wanted to say thanks to these guys for their help:
