doooo it. u wont regret it.
haha reckon so?
might have to take her for a spin when the guy gets back from work on feb 10th. havent had a turbo let alone a rotor lol.
Lol typical Fucking idiots not know what there on about
Typical things to look for.
White foamy Stuff under the oil cap, (water seals are gone if thats the case)
Compression test, Make sure there nice and equal accross all pulses. White shit in engine bay that looks like water marks..... its normally chemi weld.
Get someone like Sanders factory RE or Rotos to have a look and give it a bill of health.

got pics of it? or mod list?
be carefull as these things are starting to reduce themselfes in price pretty dramaticaly of late years, not worth alot, parts getting harder to find, and motors that arnt built of recent times are probly on ther last legs, check for rust around sun roof and sils
coil overs, adjustable camber tops(front), body kit, advan racing rims(dish), intercooler, alloy radiator, mech 2-way lsd, 5spd (got spare box too), turbo timer and ebc (both need wiring up), strut brace front and rear(rear is a massive 3" steel bar), 2 seater model (infinity i think they called), brand new rear tyres, race seats, button clutch, big exhaust(sounds awesome), blow off valve, ser5 tail lights...

once you drive a rota you'll never want another motor.
just like the once you go black .........
you wont regret it if its a goodie.
like mys1 suggested get it checked out
another is if it starts when cold.
apex seals expand with heat
dunno tyson, will ask..
jarrad hes not a rotor fan, his brother swapped the rotor for a jacked up v8 lux.. ill b gettin pics when he gets back from the mines, probly take her for a spin.. motors been rebuilt but not sure who by so will def ask. mite see if he will let me take it to lee at sanders to suss it out.

hey mate iv got a s4 rx7 that i've had for just over a year. Rotors are reliable if they are looked after properly. However if u thrash the crap out of it and not service it regularly it will bite u in the ass
From what you've said it looks like a pretty good car (mod wise). That is, should you get it there wont be alot of things you need to upgrade to have a fun car that is decently quick and handles pretty well. In saying that, definitely get some pics so everyone can see the condition of the car.
Few things to consider though:
- If the car does have a stock ecu you will want to upgrade to a standalone ecu at some point (microtech, haltech, powerfc etc) as the stock ecu is crap and severely limits the potential of the car. This will cost a decent amount of coin. However with the amount of mods already on the car I would think the owner has already got an aftermarket standalone ecu but definitely find out.
- What turbo is on the car, is it a stock turbo?hiflow? or aftermarket?
- Gearbox, alot of the gearboxes in fc's are the original boxes so check to see if they are crunchy/clunky
As mys1 has said definetly get it checked out by a rotary workshop who can give you a list of things that are old/tired/broken. Definitely get a compression test/pressure test as if the motor has average/low compression you will be up for an engine rebuild at some point in the future. Factory RE is a good choice imo: www.factoryre.com.au
Bit more info in regards to brands/models of the parts, ie. lsd, fmic, clutch, coilies etc will help people tell you whether its worth it or not.
By the way how much do you think your lux would sell for if you put it up for sale privately atm?
ha, atm my lux is still in bits..
the guy wants to swap me his when mines back together.
thanx for the heads up tho.. will def b gettin as much info when he gets back form mines..

yeah just shoot me a pm if you got ne questions, im no guru but i know a few things here and there from trial and error with my fc lol. Also post up the specs on perth rotary and perth rotor, they'll be able to give u much better opinions than i can on the fc.
(perth rotary url is currently down but still can be accessed from http://www.key2design.cynergic.net/~perthrotary/index.php)
www.perthrotor.com
www.ausrotary.com is also full of good info and helpful people

basically,
if you own a rotor its not a gtr.
so buy a gtr and be cool.
the truth is out there

its pretty amuzing, anyone that hasnt owned a rotor will hate on it and say its unreliable as fuck. and the people that have actually had experience will tell you they are great cars and can be reliable.
ive owned plenty of cars, rotors, boxers, v6s, v8s.
i had a rotor as a daily for 2 years and nothing went wrong with it, and it didnt break down. any performance car is going to have problems in the long run, if your worring about reliabilty, get out of performance cars and buy a toyota camry.
or take a chance and see how you like a rx7, you can always just sell it again
