dunno if you guys can help clear things up for me with where i stand on this...

i paid a website an amount to advertise on their site.
the features of paying for an advert were that you get a small link on their home page, and you can post up threads on your products thoughout their popular forum, in the promotions section.

the problem i've got is that due to a moderator on the forum being in direct competition to my business, they have been deleteing all of my threads on my product promotion.

i have emailed/pm'd the admin of the site but they dont seem to be interested in following the complaint through.

it has really pissed me off though, as i have paid my money, as many others have, yet i dont have the same oppotunities/rights as the others.

is this something that consumer protection could follow through with?
or is it worthless to them due to just being an random website?
(and if there is nothing i can do then is there any leet hackers out there that wanna job :naughty: or any other ideas would be welcomed!)

there is something you can do about it.

Re-read their terms and conditions to see if you are breaching their terms then there is nothing you can do as it states.

BUT if it doesn't state anything then you can firstly threaten them with legal actions. Tell them that they are breaching their terms and/or misleading the public with false advertising = saying that you can advertise on their website but are deleting your threads.

I wouldn't threaten them, i'd just get the terms and conditions, educate yourself on the position you hold, speak to consumer affairs who will then contact them with the query and most likely things will change pronto :D

Enough of the cloak and dagger. Spill the web address so people like me with fuck all to do on their week off can smash the site with spam!

It does sound like you're getting the pointy end, but as above you may be in breach of the terms and conditions some how.

lol terms and conditions.....

the only terms and conditions they have are that they can do as they like once they have your money.

This is what is written next to the advert discription:
"Front page and discussion forum link to your website under the "SERVICE & PRODUCT LINKS" section. Also includes a free advertisement in our Classifieds section and a dedicated topic posted in our Discussion Forums (Snippets)."

They make up the other 'rules' as they go along.
Such as you can post new threads on your products, yet then they change their mind when too many people do, and say that you can only have 3 a month or something, yet they dont email all their advertisers to inform them of the change, so some find out and others do not...

then of course there are ones like me who fall into this grey zone of moderator hate

haha dont think spamming would do much good really.

their forum is run by a bunch of nazi mods and they get spammed all the time but act quickly.
and the admin of the site doesnt really give a shit as long as he is getting the $ in his pocket.

You paid for an agreed service. If they aren't playing the game they are liable to have legal action taken against them; they are breaking a contract.
