Time: Thursday 8th of Oct - setup. Fri 9th, sat 10th, sun 11th - track.

I don’t know what it is about the west (there must be something in the water) because I’ve NEVER done a Burnout in my old jigger. It was a combination of the massive crowds and quality of burnout competitors that got petrol running through my veins, enough so for me to go out and cut sick which felt pretty good (although poor old ELVIS disagrees). Next time you see ELVIS, I think it’ll look a little different after I destroyed both my rear guards, paint on the doors and a brand new set of Mickey Thompson ET Streets in about 25 seconds.

Dont need to qualify or anything they just give you one lap then back to the end of the que and go again till the session runs out.

Carline Mufflers Powercruise 2009. Latest News
The Carline Mufflers Powercruise steam train is loaded and heading towards Perth with just under 2 weeks to go. The response from the 2008 event was the best we have ever seen of all the first time events we have run so I cant wait to see how the second events goes off as historically it’s been a lot bigger than the first. We have streamlined our procedures now that we have run an event at Barbagallo so all entrants and spectators will see a more organised event with more track time and easier access and exiting the track been put in place.
We have a great number of traders bringing out their gear for all to see. Our sponsors have all come back for another serve of the best cruising event ever seen in the west so that’s awesome because it shows we must be doing something right. We have heard a few rumours about the carports being sold out early and this may be why we still have about 15 of them left so from the horse’s mouth….we still have some for sale. They are $500 which included use of the carport all weekend, a pit lane sticker that gives you instant no lining up access to the track during cruising sessions as well as some protection from the sun of course. The Carport Application Form can be found here. For entrants that haven’t entered as yet, I am sure you know by now that we do of course take entries on the day just like last year so make your way to the accreditation office and t he ladies there will be happy to help you out. Please don’t send your entry forms to us from now on as the post is pretty slow across the country plus it’s the same price now as it is to enter on the day so we’ll see ya on the day.
Barbagallo Raceway have installed a brand new burnout pad and have had a few test sessions on it already from what I hear so I cant wait to get out there and throw it around again. After last years paint stripping process, I am sure to NOT rip the tyres completely apart this time. We have also had plenty of “big hitters” letting us know they will be there to contest the comp. this year we will have a burnout practice session on the Friday night which entrants don't have to go into if they don’t want to. Then we have Saturday nights all in finals so if you wanna flog ya car, then go in both cause I’m sure the crowd will love it. Then Saturday night make sure you put on the best show for the money shot, the trophy and the prize money.
Probably one thing I haven’t mentioned is that we have a whole extra day at this years Carline Mufflers Powercruise. The gates will open Thursday at 12 noon for accreditation. We’ll get everyone’s paperwork sorted, most people will do the driver briefing Thursday arvo and all will be ready to cruise from 9am Friday morning. We have done this to make sure entrants get better value for their dollar and seeing we have to go there anyway we might as well get a flight a day or 2 earlier after all. This means we will have somewhere around 15 hours of cruising the track so make sure you bring plenty of spares cause I can hear some crank shafts screaming mercy already.
I also hear there is a certain Centura that couldn’t quite get in front of Elvis last year so I hear there is a new car in the shed now with the bottle being bolted in especially for the task. Well old man I’ll be waiting for ya Col so bring it on. We have also had hundreds of people asking if they can race certain people in the cruising. Well as you would have seen last year, anyone can race anyone they want to. We saw all sorts of chopping going on with a few surprise packets so long as we are all having fun and that’s what its all about after all isn’t it.
I also get asked who’s coming from our side of the country. Well there was a 6 pack semi on its way until a Cortina threw some rods out but I hear there are still a good number of cars heading over with the Powercruise freight train but you’ll just have to come out and see what all the fuss is about. And remember, if you wanna go for a cruise with someone, just ask them. Or just ask me and I’ll see what I can do. The commentators sometimes make sure the entrants cars are full so they pick out spectators from the pit wall so you never know what you might be cruising in….
We also have a special deal for the people of north Perth. We have a $5 off offer on the mail out going to 50000 letter boxes so make sure you bring that along to save yourself a few bucks. After all times are tough so Powercruise is always looking at ways to make life easier for our beloved petrol heads.

Car has blown a turbo/manifold gasket, so have been running 1.2bar all day :(

Got really bad towards the end and refused to run more than 13psi, luckily Sean had a one, so am home fixing it now. Would be nice to relax, but meh.


Overall, pretty mint day. Am enjoying just blowing tyres off and having fun. Always good to run some of the big block V8's.
