They all come in that specificed package size arnt they? ie can i get 2kg of scotch fillet 4/5 grade?

excuse my lack of dope meat knowledge like the rest of the members, but best type to get for just smacking on a hot plate or bbq? tenderloin, scotch fillet or porterhouse?

As always, sounds the goods.

Tempted to try some scotch fillet this time... would this be far more marbled than the tenderloin or is it best to stick with the tenderloin for overall quality?

Scotch fillet is farken awesome for steaks, and is probably the most marbled out of all the cuts imo. It also has a blob of fat right in the middle, which I tend to stab with a knife heaps before cooking so it melts more. I reckon it has the most fat out of all of them since the frying pan or the bbq always end up with heaps of oil haha. Stuff gravy, I use this wagyu melted fat to pour over mash potatoes haha, tastes awesome, I'd drink that stuff if I could! :droul:

They come in rough sizes as stated, so weight can vary by up to a kilo give or take (for tenderloin it varies by about half a kilo, as chunk is smaller, so variance will be proportionally smaller too). The smallest scotch I've seen was perhaps 3.7 kilos, but I cannot guarantee you the size until I actually receive them.

Differrent people prefer differrent cuts, so it really depends on what you like. All are suitable for smacking on a hot plate or bbq, although I prefer the scotch fillet for steaks themselves. I make steak sandwiches out of porterhouse, as half a slice is the perfect size to fit a square bread, and there is no fatty blob in the middle of it, like in scotch fillet. Tenderloin of course is awesome as well, and great for steaks. They're good for anything really, roasts come out really well out of the porterhouse, melts in your mouth. Probably woudln;t do a roast out of the scotch fillet due to the blob. Tenderloin is awesome for both. But yeah, try one of each over time and they you'll see what you like.

Has anyone done a roast out of their porterhouse/tenderloin yet? I usually spare a kilo for one. Just like with steaks, that will be the best roast you'll ever have hey! So juicy and moist, it melts in your mouth!

^^ Agreed, our scotch had a big clump of fat through the middle, which is pretty common for scotch I believe. We are going for tenderloin this time to try something else without that fat clump but granted, this is easily the best tasting meat I've ever had.

Looking forward to trying some different cuts, maybe without the garlic prawns over the top this time haha. Maaaaan that topped it off!

Yep, let us know what exactly you're after. It's a good idea to try different cuts indeed :)

Haha, how quickly did you finish yours off Ben? I usually buy enough wagyu to last me for a month, averaging three times a week! That's what I call a balanced diet, my missus doesn't agree with that though haha.

Lasted a few weeks my missus loves teh steak, had to fight her for the last one LOL! Was going to cook it up for the family at Xmas, but we decided to fvck everyone else and pig it ourselves after trying the first one LOL. Best steak I have had for sure! Busted arse after Xmas so I will have to wait for the next group buy.
But it is well worth the money!

Yep, I'd do the same, eat it all yourself :) Although if I do a bbq for people at my house, and want to feel generous serving wagyu and stuff, I go cheap and serve the rump.

Ah yeah, forgot to mention you can also order a wagyu rump, but that only comes in grade 3/4 MBS, but costs only 24 bucks a kilo. It's nothing brilliant to be honest, although still a lot better than your $15 coles "dollar dazzler" steak. It comes in massive 6 kilo packs though. I'd only buy it if you're planning a bbq for 30 people or something, still a nice meat. But if you want something delicious, I'd stick to the other cuts, they're a LOT better than rumps.
