have you got a sample of what you want to achieve. Don't want to give wrong info
I assume your looking for a centre spot filter in black or grey.
For this sort of effect

Not too sure what you mean by that, or what kind of level you're at with PS, but here's a quick example of what I think you mean...

Yeah, large airbrush around the edge. Then generally i just turn the opacity down to suit.
Something like this?

Very lightly on that one. Can only just see it in the corners.

but thought there had to be a easier way . I will try the method you guys said
It's called vignetting.
Do a search on google for vignetting in Photoshop.

If you shoot in Raw mode, and instal the raw package for PS, it has the vignetting setting, and its piss-easy.

Some people like the effect, im not a huge fan, it is actually seen by most as a bad characteristic of a lens which you can correct using the vignetting tool in photoshop with Adobe Raw like Brockas said.
Anyone using a dSLR should really shoot in Raw and use the Adobe Converter as it is an invaluable tool when it comes to adjusting images and is extremely useful in correcting flaws of lenses such as distortion, vignetting, etc.. or correcting photos that may have been underexposed, etc..
