Good question. Its the first time they're running it. I think it'll be somewhere out back using the haul roads. I doubt it would be Wellington Dam.

You don't need WASCC membership. Just a L2S Cams licence which requires a car club membership of some description.

If its the hill climb im thinking of, its about 3-4km from the track, forget the name of the hill, but we used it back in 02 as part of an all fours weekend
its a _fast_ hill climb, pretty open and flat, not much of a hill
that is unless they've got another one out there..

Track time? Depending on what you drive you will probably need to be in the 49-53 second range to finish anywhere interesting. Depends as always on the track condition. Bound to be stinking hot as it is Collie & it is still summer. This doesn't exactly help lap speed.
The format is a standard SES format. There is more than enough to keep you busy.
Look at the end of the day it is a sprint event, not a turn up & do innumerable laps with your mates day. It is the WA based sprint & hillclimb championship. The only one we have. You turn up for the competition, not for the laps.
If you just want to turn laps of the Collie circuit check the motoringsouthwest.org.au website for dates. The circuit is usually available the day before the sprint rounds but because they have chosen to run a hillclimb aswell it wont happen this time around. Maybe later during the year.
Other than that Collie may not be local to you but then again not everyone lives in fkn Perth. Some people make the effort to go from Albany to Wanneroo for these things.....
Anyway you can always enter the short circuit sprint at Wanneroo on the 14th Feb. Entries close soon so dont mess about.
Love to all etc.

I went and spectated; all accounts from all competitors was a HUGE thumbs up. Big speeds on wide roads. For those familiar with the Dutton. The "hill climb" started just past the bump on the first stage of the group of stages out the back of the circuit; it then head down the road, turning right at the intersection, then going around the loop (the stage that got canceled last year at the Dutton) in an anti-clockwise direction; it was then a flat out sprint before turning left heading up the hill with the finish line near where the 4th stage was for the Dutton Rally. Totaling over 2.1kms with speeds well over 200kph.
For those wondering why its called a hill climb - CAMS manual states that a hillclimb has to have more than 2m of elevation change.
This "hill climb" is also only the second hill climb in WA to be given a permanent track license (only other being Jacks Hill at Wanneroo Raceway).
I enjoyed the "hillclimb" much more than the circuit sprint on Sunday. Big thumbs up to the SES for having the guts to run the long straights without any cone chicanes. I didn't get a chance to look at my speedo and don't have my logger hooked up yet, but I was well into 5th gear before braking for the left before the finish line.
That back straight gave the suspension a work out as well. Very bumpy.

Congratulations to Franz for his win on the Sunday Sprint. Well done.
Hill climb on Staurday was a bit eye opening in places. Particularly if you drove a Silvia. My data logger recorded just over 4 gees of vertical acceleration over one of the bumps on the long straight. Speed was just over the 160kmh mark at that point & built up to 210km/h before the left hander.
