this is the upper control arm/spring seat for an XG ute, so same as XF falc

Trying to remove the horizontal nuts to replace bushes with nolythene ones.
Got one off (far top of pic) with freeze spray+blowtorch+50L compressor+SP 1/2" rattle gun

Bottom one won't budge, no matter what. Also the only way to undo the nut is for the whole shaft to spin smacking the bolts that are welded perpindicular through it into the arm itself, you can see where i've threaded the nut on the lower perp to stop fuckin the threead where the sleeve has spun the shaft against the arm. and also also cut into the arm from the force because the end nut is stubborn

Short of getting the 3/4inch CP rattle gun on it at work next Monday what can I do to get it off? Has anyone used a nut splitter like this.

http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/150244_lg.jpg

or ground a nut off with a grinder before? what disc should I use?

and how do I get the bushes out after that is there a special tool? they aren't going to slip out easily I think the thin metal sleeves holding the bushes will crumple and become a pingpingpingping before the unit slips out

new bushes are replacement steel sleeves with nolythene bushes, trying to do a straight swap. this thing was unsafe to drive before i took em out and i think the problem lies here, bushes are shredded/torn

edit- also noltec, superpro and nolythene don't do a replacement with the bushes already pressed in (or without) and no ford dealerships seem to care, wrecker replacement would probably be just as fucked. not to mention i'd have to spend 5 hours ripping it out then pay for it get it home and it'd be the same

anyone here have a business relationship with a wreckers that may have one out of a car i could inspect?

Usually these bushes are press fit.

Need to press them in and out.

Suggest getting it apart (nut splitter, oxy etc) getting new bushes and stopping by a shop with a press they should be able to do it for you..

Tried a blowtorch that got it hot as fuck (although not glowing) and then even with my old man spraying Liquimoly freeze rust remover while I rattled it still no go. Then dropped it up the road to the garage they couldn't get it out either hahah. they left vice marks over the arm too but not too bad.

Even if I can get rattle it out the perpendicular bolts will smash themselves to peices on the arm
Has anyone used a nutsplitter and can recommend a brand? Do ABW do one? I have ABW pitman arm pullar quality wasn't best but did the job

Unfortunately I don't really know anyone in the industry, let alone who has gear or does quick cashies no receipts. What's the point doing it yourself if some stranger wants $50 here $100 there to do something already out the car. So I'm stuck unless I can find a cheap hydraulic press for sale under $500 I'm sure 1tonne would be enough

just cut it off with a 1mm cutting disc and go to a fastener shop and buy brand new bolts and nuts

Cut the nut right down and smack it with a chisel and open it up that way (like a C) untill it flies off the other side, try not to damage the threads, clean em up on a wire wheel and your good to go.

I wouldnt be using oxy unless your dead set on replacing those bushes

Failing that the 1/2 inch snap on electric gun will get that shit off :)
