Just bought something from a US shop. Ad stated ships worldwide, so i sent message to seller asking for quote on shipping to Australia, Seller says $30USD

Seller sends through PayPal invoice for product + 30 USD that i immediately paid

I then receive product in good time, i would consider the transaction finished.

I have just now (5 days after receiving item) received a email from paypal saying this sender has requested $20USD with a comment of "Hi Josh, postage was actually 50usd not 30usd, please pay the difference"

Can i just not pay this, i asked for a quote, he gave it. Now he is asking for more cash. Im not concerned about the money part, more if i simply dont pay this, do i get a bad rep or whatever they call it?

wouldnt think so, what is given as a quote for an item and shipping is the sale figure and not needing an adjustment after you ahve paid and received the goods. Probably trying to get more coin because of the day you traded and paid he lost out on exchange rate.....

You dont need to pay shit.

He can give you bad feedback, but then you can also give him one back. Once you give him one back he will probably be keen for a mutual withdrawal of the negative feedback. It especially hurts sellers when they receive negative feedback. Sif pay.

+1
his fault for not quoting proper shipping, nor mentioning you may need to pay more later

leave it. if stores make a mistake in advertising they give u the item as advertised..
he made a mistake with calculations? whos fault is that. his.
he needs to just suck it up.

buyerss cannot recieve negative feedback from sellers, new thing ebay implemented recently im pretty sure.

I think you'll find that eBay rules have changed.....sellers can't leave neg feedback for buyers anymore.

Just ignore him :)

He's already received the item, why should he pay extra?

Tell the seller to eat a bag of dicks. Whatever price they listed as postage at the time of the transaction is what was agreed on. You paid what they asked at the point of transaction, end of story.

if u know the quote was unusually cheap and u got a steal on the item - id prob pay it. would u have still bought it if it was $50??

Yeh no doubt, im more concerned about the business ethics of the deal.

Ie i dont call customers up after ive done a cambelt and say "Oh yeh the cambelt was actually 50 more, can you come in and pay that". Its just not cricket. I make a mistake, i wear it and move on.

Cheers

i called hyperdrive up for price and availability on a trust type r external gate diaphram. He told me $80 (or there abouts - was a few years back so cant fully remember) and that they had 1 in stock. so i raced down there asap only to find out the dude wrongfully quoted me and it was actually $150 (once again or there abouts - was a fair difference anyway)

was a legit excuse/mistake on his behalf and im pretty sure from memory i only had about $120 on me at the time so he was happy to take that amount as much as i was to pay that amount.

postage costs are a bastard to get. and if it came from usa - their services and postale rates vary tremendously (mate got quotes of 80 USD to ship 1x syncro blocker ring) yet xspower can ship a china manifold for that price express from usa in 3 days

right!

i'm thinking this happened a while ago... as he is getting asked questions now after he has received the goods etc which from USA would have taken a while...

seems fairly obvious - dude sellign part - some1 asks how much to ship - he just says 30 bux thinking it will cover it (alittle foolish), wraps up item, goes to post office and finds out its actually 50, but since he there, sends anyway and tries his luck asking for the extra 20 off the buyer.

5 days difference eeither enough time to make sure buyer recieves part (would be pretty stupid requesting more money and buyer not knowing if part had even been sent at all) orelse time difference to notify paypal et cetc

end of day i dont think he really expects the extra 20. is prob just trying his luck to see if u would help cover the actual shipping fees.

cant see him leaving negative feeback - he would know he made a blooper

probably more likely trying to scam or yea exchange difference at the time, he said 30 bux postage then its his fault dont pay

No,

Difference is, you could have walked away from hyperdrive if you wern't happy with the price. I had the product in my hand.

If hyperdrive had called you a few days later and said, oh sorry that gate diaphram was actually 150, can you come in and pay the 70. Im not sure you would be of the same opinion. If said seller had contacted me before he shipped and said, ive made a mistake here, the price on shipping is x amount. Do you want to continue or i can send all your money back. That would have been the correct way to handle it.

Yeah dude, that's totally different. As said if you had paid, got home, and then they called to say they undercharged and could you go back into the shop than that would be comparable.

Shop fucked up, end of story. I don't think they'll be crying over it anyway mate.

it was still a miss quote

i had option to pay the extra before i actually bought it
u have the option to pay the extra after you bought it

If your likely to trade with him again, pay the extra. If its a one off say no thanks buddy, and advise he doesnt make that mistake again.
