Heu guys n gals,
currently got an r33.

suspension in it is basic...bilstien shocks, whiteline springs with whiteline caster/camber bushes etc

Im looking to upgrade the shocks and springs as what I have now is a road package good for 1 or 2 track days....doing supersprints - the current suspension I think isnt good!

So....

My thoughts are Tein flex.

Now, a few other people Ive spoken to say the cusco zero 2's are really good also!

What are peoples thoughts?

I know there are cheaper ones like ISC, D2 and G4 coilovers....any thoughts on them?

Cheers,
Chris

the last time we priced up coilovers the best bang for buck we could find was buddy club junior spec dampers from geenline(or nengun maybe)

tein flex are good stuff, provided you get the right spring rates (best to talk to other skyline owners who have a similar setup)

ISC/D2/G4 are all the same, shitty. They dont have much adjustment, the valving is all wrong and lots of people have had issues with leaks and collapsing.

Take a look at the HSD range though, apparently much better quality, and I think Joe (Balistc) can get you a set at a good price.

Hey Mate,

I use the Cusco Zero 2R's on my evo... they are awesome, but a bit stiff for the road.

We currently have the D2 Coilovers for $1799 (including Fitting) into the R33 Skyline, HSD HR Series for $1950 fitted, K Sports for $1990 Fitted and Tein for $2199 Fitted.

My pick would be the Tein's, second pick the K Sports and equal third HSD/D2. Cusco's are over priced at the moment for what they do.

I would also recommend doing sway bars to stiffen up the car when cornering hard.

Thanks guys :)

Yeah Im gonna post on SAU and see what other "boat owners" think hahaha

Ive got whiteline sway bars also f n r, hicas lock bar, and a whiteline subframe kit - its just I think that the current set up - isnt going to deliver now in the sprint series over here in nsw.

Cheers

are the K-Sports china?

Best bet for you would probably be tein. Good wuality and have the ability to have them rebuilt should they need it. I have K-Bee coilovers in my Sil180 and love them. They are very stiff though, even on the softest dampening setting.

yeah K-Bee are good, very stiff as said.

Tein would be hard pressed to be beaten for price, service support and function.

Yeah you are right, just the name has being rebadged. The quality is all the same both of them.

How about Silk Road coilover because i be getting few set of them. I heard they not bad so far, make from japan.

D2 are a much cheaper product than K Sport. I know this first hand as curiosity got the better of me one day and I pulled them both apart to find the differences.

D2 is China, K Sport is taiwan and is manufactured in taiwan by K Sport, unlike others that are made in china, then distributed via taiwan.

Funnily enough, HSD & D2 share many of the same components.

All 3 are still very well built, but either way, Tein is still my first pick.

one would hope they have gotten better after this

personal opinion, stick with Teins. Proven product, easily serviced and unlike the d2/g4/etc coilovers the adjustment does more than just click.

you wouldnt get mad camber like that if you ran teins :D

ive got racing logics in mine, had them 12 months with no issues... only due to the fact nobody makes anything to suit a 20yr old tx3 :(

Both broke at same time , what was it doing to snap 1 shaft n bend the other :dunno:

Tiens in the 31 have same numbers on springs as the ISC coilovers n look identical other then colours ...

That s14 had to of hit something decent to do that sort of carnage... shit don't just break cause it feels like it. I would say any coil over copping a hit like that would look roughly the same...

I'll say it again.... TEIN!

avoid d2 like the plague. if you want real suspension, made in australia - tuned for local conditions, and proven to last, save the extra $1k or so and get DMS. i have them and would not get anything else in the same price range.

teins for the win in my opinion, have been in a few cars with them including s14 and 33 gtst and they handle fantastic. ride isn't too stiff either - as long as your not doing country distances! :)

Upgrade your swaybars (if there still stock) then start making decisions about coilovers later.

If you end up going for TEINs, Brad(or Matty) @ WA Suspensions can probably do you a good deal on them :)
