Lots of pubs in country towns stopped serving shots ages ago. Its bullshit. People should be able to buy what ever drinks they want. We are so becoming a nanny state
Tons of places have stopped already

mayb cos there is to many fuckheads that go out, get stupidly shit faced then decide they are Bruce "i'm a hard kunt" Lee and decide to punch on with any innocent punter they come across. Or do summin stupid like try headbutt a movin car.
Personally never been a fan on shooters, dont c the point really. Summin about the whole thing of drinkin to get drunk. Dont get me wrong i drink and get smashed fairly often, but it usually drawn out over a day of hangin out with mates and doin stuff rather than drinkin as much as u can in a quickest time you can then gettin to written off.
Mayb i'm gettin old but i see drinkin as a social thing, there is much better and cheaper things to get you "out of it".

It begun with the banning of Flaming Lamborghinis several years ago with an incident at Clubba.

new low for perth clubs.
pretty sure shooters are only outlawed in NSW clubs, and it is not enforced over here
More and more places are enforcing it - Casino has for nearly a year now.
Shame, because end of the day - you want to drink, youll drink. Makes no difference if its shots, or premix etc etc. Like Chris said people will get smashed at home, or sneak booze in.
Id be more worried about the pingpingpingpings getting high and going on drug rage bashing spree.

I can kind of see the point, people that get to the stage where they dont care and just keep downing shots more chance of the getting stupidly drunk compared to drinking beer or somthing, but yeah ruins it for everyone else.

The problem is, I'd think, that said pingpingpingpings can then turn around and blame the bar or whereever for serving them too much.

There is also the economical factor. As you said if ppl wanna drink to get drunk they will. But a club/pub is much gonna prefer u buying 10 pints @ $8 and gettin tanked than buyin 5 shots @ $10 and gettin to the same state. Straight up they are $30 up.
Also has a follow on effect, if ur in a pub for longer you are buyin more drinks and possibly buyin other ppl more drinks.

They will still sell them, but not as a shot, they have the same shit in the pilbra, you can still get a shot in a glass, but it has ice in there with it, so shit like yager bombs will still be buyable as your going to be mixing that with something non alcoholic...

Coming from my point of view in management in Night Clubs/bars etc
Its all From ADA and Liquor licensing, they are owning club managements and threatning to close places down if they dont change.
So really its coming from the government, not the clubs themselves.

so the next time i order a tequilla shot, salt and lemon....ill be given it with the tequilla in the glass with ice and the lemon on the edge of the glass?
a drink that has been around for many MANY years is now not in clubs or pubs?
as far as i can see its just a way of pub/club owners covering thier arse for over drunk patrons...
so those that drink shooters to enjoy them, and drink said shooters in moderation now have to pay dearly for those that go over the top....
this sound very much like the VN/VP v6 autos that get called hoons and the performance car drivers that do the right thing end up copping the slack for it...

Absolutely appreciate your point, all i know is cvnts are just as rowdy on beer, wine, whatever... sure, spirits get you there quicker on a empty stomach... but if i walk up to the hospital patients and ask... "Have you been hard on the spirits?..." how many out of 10 do you think would say yes? i'm not sure.
Maybe these new legislations will have massive positive outcomes... but given our run recently with our winner politicians... im again... not sure.
It's crazy... if anyone here has actually managed the occasional interest to listen to some of the older 50+ demographic listener call in's you get on 94.5... where Ron of Willagee rants for 3mins on airtime... suggesting new fucking laws... that make no sense...
... pretty sure that 60% of the shit those crazy bastards suggest is becoming a reality 6months later in AUS right now.
Will be interesting when we're all in that demographic in the future... seeing if anything is any different...

I work behind the bar in the foundry and we haven't served shots for a long time. No jugs, no doubles either. For a while we removed all pre-mixed drinks over 7% alc/vol content, but a supplier kicked up a stink and we had to bring back smirnoff blacks. Probably better off without 8% and 9% drinks being served in pubs though.
We stopped serving bourbon stubbies on our busiest night of the week (thursday) and saw a noticable reduction in the number of fights/evictions. The managers do get a grilling by the cops, especailly the ADA every time we have a brawl, or if there's one in the carpark. Since we're the only big pub for a fair distance in any direction we cop a lot of the blame for shit in the surrounding area (mostly the carpark). Stuff like street drinking, anti-social behaviour, DUI, burnouts, etc.
I hate the retarded push for responsible service of alcohol and the complete banning of fun but like everything else it's been spoiled for the masses by a few idiots. I had a bloke sitting in the bar the other day talking to his mates "I heard cops get an average of $24/hr! Can you believe some bastard gets paid a third of what I get to try and control me when I'm on the piss!"
Twats like that who don't see the violence and destruction resulting from dickheads with too much piss in them are the reason normal people can't quietly slip into the bottom of a bottle from time to time.

meh, every place i go (mostly in nb) still sell shots, havent come across a place that hasnt yet so atm i dont really care, stupid if they stop selling shots in my books. i dont see that many fights out these days either, thats not to say there isnt any fighting anymore, havent seen one in a club for a long time really. if anything i dont think its as bad as it used to be, when i was 18/19 was seeing fights every week, that was 3-4 years ago. i know there are jus the odd few dickheads that ruin it for the rest of us.
shots or not people are still going to be out getting bulk drunk, wether its off shots or buying bottle/pints.

Does that mean when we order bulk yagers they wont do the thing where they line all the midi glasses up with the shots balanced on top and then domino them in??? that would take half the fun away from the bar crew as well!

Perth is probably the worst place in Australia (if not the world?) to go out and party.
Its overpriced, boring and almost every club plays the same music. Not to mention the drink restrictions and all the dickheads out there and how hard it is to get to and from wherever you are going because of overpirced taxis that don't turn up, lack of bus's and trains after certain hours etc.
But hey the "community" doesn't want that to change. Apparently Perth is an old folks home.

You won't see any improvements in WA, for anything. Clubbing, retail hours, daylight savings... it seems like the retards who oppose improvement are the majority in this shithole :( It's like one big retirement home mentality in this state. Where from? I notice the 9% Bulleit cans are being phased out, soon all you will be able to get will be the 6.xx% cans. Hopefully they drop the $$ to coincide with the % drop but still Wild Turkey FTW. And clubbing today is exactly the same experience as when I started going back in 96' which is a very f*ckn sad state of affairs. Except these days not many kunts can dance. Yeh I remember alot of the problem people had with retail hours/sunday trading was that they didnt want to work 7 days a week. I mean come on... You'd be working the same hours you are now, it would just open up more jobs for students and stuff.
If you dont want to go shopping at night or on sunday then don't, theres no one stopping you staying at home. But forcing the rest of us to do what you want is fucked.
Another thing I noticed people are against the pokies here. In brizzy it subsidizes all the food, alcohol, well pretty much everything aswell as giving people something to do instead of bashing people because there bored terry toughpingpingpingpings.
The last 2 times I have been to brisbane city and the gold coast I've seen NO fights. None. in some clubs you can even buy inhouse pizzas and stuff instead of trekking out for a shithouse greasy kebab.
And before people tell me to fuck off to bizzy there is one downside and its a pretty big thing to us on antilag.
The roads are so shithouse my parents standard 2003 camry scraps, so there would be no chance of driving any nice low cars there. Maybe on the gold coast there roads are a bit better.

Ah i rekon, i hate the rough uneven bridge's on the hwy's and potholes, each time you go over em on low pro's the whole car shudders, cant be good.
i was thinking about going superlow on my car but i just wouldnt be able to go anywhere.
back to the topic just get pissed before taxi'ing into northbridge, my good mate kept asking the sketchy looking driver if the car was a coloumn shift and weather the taxi had heavy duty door hinges  the taxi driver had the expression on his face like he was hiding a concealed weapon in his shirt whilst cops pass by, thought he was gonna pull over and start bolting! classic times.

roads kick ass here though over NSW roads ... im suprized the times ive gone to NSW ive actually seen low cars .... whilst getting air on the freeways in the 2007 corolla hire car due to the un-evenness i thought to myself... fuck ... i couldnt drive my Mark II on half the fucking state..
But off that topic, syd/melb citys are amazingly setup.
What they have over there is for one, more people... and due to this , they have thousands more cafe's and excellently priced restaurants everywhere you go.
And they always have a few friends sittin round in there, no matter what day of the week, and this shits in the middle of the city, every street has a cafe' and or a pizzaria or something to chill at with mates.
Perth has 2 streets with this available on, and the strips are around 1km long ...
Also, seeing a few "clubs" , even in "WOOLONGONG" which is an hour south of syd, they were bigger, and more defined than here
one would be bluesy style, one metal, one dance/nova93.7 shit like pendulum etc. the next one would be R&B
went to a couple , keeping in mind this is an hour south of syd
and they were great, people differ from place to place , but the general IDEA of going out over there is to SOCIALIZE, not to get "maggot" like half the braindead fuckers in Northbridge are yelling out at 9pm at night .
i just think perth is too layed back, and we are so restricted by shit laws, shit police and a general "slack/boring" culture, that weekends are the "let-go" and people just HAVE TO GET CRUNK to spazz out and burst outta the perth-i-tis

That depends what you consider a great lifestyle. Sitting around doing nothin on sundays unless you want to drive all the way to the city, getting bashed for no reason when you do attempt to go out, getting bashed on Australia day and bottled by bogans at mullaloo, paying atleast double for everything you buy from clothes to land, etc.
