it means they will be dumping the waste here

international law basicly say the waste is the problem of the country that dug it out the ground

Lump
17-11-2008, 07:10 PM
have you got a link to that international law, cause thats the first ive heard of it

common courtesy lol, that means jack shit :)

i dont see the NT or SA taking back waste, also Pangea have been trying to set up a waste dump here for years.

There is no NT dump site yet. There was a massive shitfight when it was proposed .

There were 3 mines in the NT (Rum Jungle, Jabiluka and Ranger (Jabiru) ), Only Jabiru's ERA Ranger Mine (i worked there) is still running yet they havent got a dump site yet as the environment is considered too fragile, thats why Jabiluka was shutdown. They were fined a few years ago for a contamination in a near by water way (alligator river), but it was swept under a rug. ERA is owned by Rio Tinto.

The one i know of in SA and its near the centre and right near a certain detention centre near Woomera.

nothing is going mto happen for 3 years and all the little companies have no money and will get not money... stay with the big boys 3 mines policy operating anyway ERA rio BHP , the amount of red tape and infrastructure neeeded dont go punting on a little spec because they have green glow shows coz they arent gonna do FA

PDN already mines and produces as they are not in Australia and they still hardly make any money.

It is a lonnnnnng term thing. China is making 20 nuclear plants by 2015 and thats where is will be going

is that waste from the result of exporting all yellow cake returned by customers, or is it waste generated in oz?

This is bloody fantastic news

Our company just recently floated a junior uranium mining comapny which has tenements in WA and in Tanzania.
We also mine a small amount of coal in Africa.
This is the news we've been waiting for since we're only a little baby company but we're relying on our WA tenements to get the company going.
Also good seeing as I bought a chunk of shares in the IPO and the market decided to shit itself.

Huzzah! You little fucking beauty :D

as pointed out, it'll mean SFA for the small guys for now, the big players will be able to get up and running before a new goverment could possibly come in and try to reinstate the ban, and i say try, as once there are operating mines banning it once more will be near on impossible..

thats where all the small guys will come into play and be able to get sites up and running..

gotta bear in mine it takes atleast two years to get a mine up and running, and maybe even longer before it produces anything, and thats if all your resource drilling is completed..

theres a new magnatite mine goin in over the road from where i work currently, and they've been drilling the resource for over 15 months and defining it, the start of the camp only happened 6 months ago for the exploration and drilling guys there, and the construction camp is still 6 months away with first actual production to occur in late 2010, and these guys know where and how big the resource is..

if your only at the stage you know something is there and have a few holes drilled, your atleast 3 years away from running

Shame all the guys sitting on uranium tenements have got no more cash!

EMA holds one of the largest undeveloped deposits in WA- Mulga Rocks. But yeah, not even JORC resource yet, so years away from being able to mine.

I think RIO controls Kintyre don't they?

Takes at least a year to 2 to get a camp built and fully operational for them to even start minning....

Looks like ill have plenty of work for the next 3 to 5 years.....

Thats the point though. There's infrastructure requirements for the next 10 years alone, let alone the spin off it'll generate for us 'city folk'. Perth is due for positive growth figures for at least two decades. Prettyfarkinbombedandshit!

Perth is due for positive growth figures for at least two decades. Prettyfarkinbombedandshit!

Hahahhaa, JME jew so funnay.

Positive growth ?. You mean by natural spreading of humans to further points in the outer skirts of city limits ?. Cause shit we still have old arsed phone lines where you cant be asured to have more than a fax speed line by telstra, in summer we have ads to (no .... not adz adz, i mean adverts) to tell us "please, dont turn your aircon on when you get home, as we are fucking limited in our 60's infrestucture as it is allready, god forbid a gino in a VN slams a external wooden powerpole, three suburbs will be out of power for half the day (union rules, cant work in heat).

We pull gas out of the ground, sell it to us for 60 something cents at the bowser cause westfarmers have this monopoly, but we supply the Japs for 2c till 2018 or such, and when the operation goes "BOOM", the Japs get a message saying "Dont worry, its all as norm, fear not", we in Perth get "Please, dont use too much gas, were in dire straights here ..... "

They plan a waterfront redevelopment, to bring life, tourism, culture, and a place that aboriginals can loiter and abuse white people ... what does Perth say ? "NO ..... we like it as it is !". Extended trading hours, so this country town doesnt close at 5pm "NO, NO NO NO !".

We cant even advise people that driving in the right lane is retarded !. We have a fwy that goes from 3 lanes, to 4, back to 3, to 4 then 5 , then to 4,3 and 2 lanes again ..... but here is the kicker ... Perthies cant merge !. So its a 12kph basin of faeces.

Anyways, yea im for uranium dig sites. Im for nuclear energy too, but fact is some company will make billions, we will still use coal cause a heap of people in collie will have a piss and moan to the premier, and if we mine it, all it means is Canberra and the mine company will be the real winners. Means we will export it for nix, and someone will reap the rewards, and one day when our resourses are dried up, we will have a boring ass state with slow net, manky power grids, and expensive steel ... cause we ship it to China as ore/dirt for stuff all, and buy it back processed at a scam.

Watching Nat Geo and doccos on Dubai is depressing when you compare, about islands, or the new Burj Dubai, Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah and other islands, shit they even have a indoor snow skiing / boarding park !. We have Hillarys, Adventure world and Kings park.

Ahhhh ..... i feel better now. Back to work.

prob with perth is that everyones set in the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mindset, they cant see whats actually happening.

we're backwards cause everyone thinks not changing anything is a safe way to do things.
