getting some suspension work installed in next few weeks, the Electronic controller for in cabin adjustments of the shocks were brought up.

has anybody had any experience with this EC or similar units?
as in, do they have any issues?
or are they generally pretty reliable?

cheers
matt

Hey i got them with my Tein Superdrifts i personally wouldnt get it, how often do you care enough to change the stifness? if your doing some track work give the tops a few clicks clockwise to stiffen it up and vice-vera if you want to make them softer.

Not worth the $400 or whatever they cost IMO

Only ever played around with it in mates R34 when he had it, seems decent but all depends what ya gonna be using the car for I guess.

some people have had issues with the units getting wet, but pretty rare from memory.
its a cool function if your actually going to play with the settings, and handy if your shocks are in a location difficult to get to in the rear.

Agreed, all depends on how much you think you will want to adjust it i.e. Roads/Streets you need a softer setting, but once you get to the track, you will need to harden them up.

I haven't heard of any issues with the units themselves.

I had the Greddy controller on my Type S coils.

I like the fact you could change it on the fly but i couldnt get mine to work properly. Like i would adjust the fronts on the controller to 10 but it didnt feel right. I pulled off the solonoids and put the manual adjuster in and found that the right was 4 and the left was like 17 or something. Definitely way off anyway. They are great when they work but i could never get mine right. I just took them off and manually set it.

I know of 2 other people that this happened to with Greddy coilovers. I havnt heard of any issues for the Tiens though.

IMO you will adjust it a fair bit at the start to get them to a point where your happy, then probably never touch them again (unless going track-street).

matt, iv played with these a bit and i agree! waste of time IF your car isnt going to see the track,

you would be amazed at how much difference these units can make out on the track, when i did an ahg track day i found use for them right from the get go, i put the rear shocks on soft setting for the initial take off then click them to a harder setting before the first corner,

depending on what track etc you are on, fine tweaks for the stiffness of the shock make a world of difference

plus they are cool :D

Mine have been in car for about a year and still not the slightest problem with them so yes they are reliable.
