Time to sell the land yacht, to make way for the new dak dak!
- 1996 Ford Fairlane Ghia
- Been in the family since new
- 125,000km
- Near new tyres
- Replaced radiator and all coolant hoses about 3 years ago
- New suspension fitted about 3 years ago.
- Paint is in pretty good condition, has a few scrapes and marks but still looks GREAT once its all polished up. The car will cop full detail and polish for the new owner.
- Interior is as new. You will not find a better condition interior on a Ford of this age.
Comes with 2 spare air-flow meters (bought these cheap from eBay, in case the LPG ever back-fired and killed one...never happened, and they are now spares).
Also comes with genuine transmission service kit, which I never got around to installing.

Chasing $4,000, not really negotiable as its already cheap, and seeing as I wanted $5k, I've taken $1000 off the price to allow for the following problems that will need rectification from the new owner:
- Has a coolant leak around the timing cover gasket. This is an easy DIY job, just needs some time (which I don't have) and half a brain.
- Electric aerial stopped working about a month ago. It doesn't go down now, but can either be fixed or easily replaced with a new unit. If it doesnt bother you, then thats fine.
- NEEDS A TUNE-UP AND SERVICE. joshg123 from these forums can do the LPG tune as its his specialty, and it needs either an injector clean, lead change or a fuel filter change (or preferrably all of the above) to rectify some hestitation when running on fuel. Runs great on gas though, but like I said, needs tune to get maximum fuel economy out of the gas and fuel system. Once this is done, you WILL get 900km out of both tanks on a country run, or 700km around town. Worth doing oil change and trans oil change (with supplied trans service kit) at the same time, to get it spot on.
- Sometimes the air suspension trips out....i.e. it won't pump up. MOST of the time its fine though. Needs someone with enough time to trace the wiring for the level sensor, pump and control unit, and find out where the issue is being caused. My money is on a corroded connector somewhere.
- It doesnt NEED to be done, but if I was keeping the car, I'd probably skim the front rotors and put some new pads in, as they vibrate a bit under firm braking.
- Front passenger door mould fell off, new genuine one sitting on bench ready to be painted and fitted. I will supply this with the car, unpainted.
Basically, its nothing out of the ordinary for a 12 year old Ford, but if you want a very reliable, extremely nice daily or tow car (once you fit a tow bar), for around $5k, you can't go wrong buying this for $4k and spending approximately $1k getting everything spot on.
Cheers :)
