is that the punishments handed out for the aboriginal population, is not the same as the punishments handed out to the rest of the population.

Personally I think it just takes a little bit of understanding and a little bit of tolerance from each generation... and a lot more work on behalf of the government like compulsory schooling, work placement and no fucking handouts to slowly resolve the problem over a few decades. Government should give companies incentives and tax breaks for hiring and training indigenous people and get them off welfare and into the workforce. Once someone has a job they can earn their self respect, respect for other people and their property.. and learn the value of a dollar.

The problem I believe at the moment that discrimination is so strong in the community it is hard for them to get a chance, get a job and try and conform. How many aboriginal people have you worked with in a non-government job? How many have you seen working in service industry? There's heaps of jobs out there and a whole generation of young people in their community who could be getting these jobs.. but how many people will hire them?

The problem is they are too used to getting handouts, doing as they like, blaming our "ancestors" and fucking the community up. I work with a whole bunch of some of the most characteristic people you could find... Hospitals are good for that, we attract all the wierdos. lol. But yeah several of my good friends I work with are from seuth efriceh, and the stories they tell of their life there... shit. But these guys get here and get on with it.
I have every respect for anyone who just acts like a good person. But I've got a lot to say about our... indigenous... friends.... after growing up in Karratha and Wickham. See, I don't buy that. What problem did out ancestors create? So we have taken over 2% of Australia's land area, big deal. They DON'T HAVE TO live in the city. i agree with Marc ... i also work in recruitment ... and i lost count the amount of Afrcan and Sudanese people i have working for me at the momment ... they are reliable and will do anything to get some work like marc said even go away and improve english skills

a month or so back i interviewed an aboriginal ... hour late in interview ... dressed in track pants and jumper ... used one word answers and never made eye contact and basically made me feel like i was wasting his time when i was trying to help him get work. again last week interviewed another riggie ... older fellow ... wouldnt fill out paperwork in office took it outside and sat in his VN an filled it out ... came in and failed the safety DVD.

all people are put through the SAME process yet it seems that its only the Aboriginals that never make it through and by chance if they do they never show up to work ... im not stereotyping here im talking from experience ... then again i wouldnt discriminate against them just cos there aboriginal id still give them a shot but like i said ... never works out

Excatly, and this is why they get stereotyped. Especially in recruitment you can't afford to not have someone turn up for a job. So far extra money, incentives, opportunities etc haven't worked. When I used to work at ambar, sometimes I would walk through the murray st mall towards NB and hang around there (I didn't have my license then). I used to live up in NightCliff (suburb of Darwin) lived there for 5 years and they were trouble up there. Used to hang around the front of shops and ask everyone for money, especially women who were on there own and felt intimidated by them.

About 4 years ago there was a massive brawl on Mitchell Street, a group of blokes were walking past the pasrk at night (near the Blue Heeler bar) and a couple of abo's try to hold them up. They fought back and then out came 30 of them.

The 3 blokes start running back towards the pubs/clubs (around 11 at night) and they were getting chased. Then when we saw a few blokes jumped in me and a few as well as dozens of others jumped in, was on for young and all. If every one woulda turned a blind eye no doubt they woulda been severly bashed or worse. Made the Front Page of the NT news, mate got in the photo.

was up in darwin a few years back and went for a quick trip to Katherine.
got there about 9am in the morning and as we got into town, there were coons lying asleep everywhere!
literally everywhere!
verges, median strips, gutters, park benches, shop doorways and window ledges - all out cold. there wouldnt of been an empty space of more than 20m square without a coon asleep in it. some in small groups or pairs, some clothed and some with little on....

we went and drove out to our motel to drop our bags off before doing the 'tourist thing' and passed a road that was blocked off by the cops with a dead coons body lying within the police tape...

went back into town about 10.30am and the streets were busy with 'white' people and there wasnt one coon to be seen - was amazing considering what we saw when we first arrived.
i was like wtf where'd they go
mate replied that the pubs opened at 10.....

we also got told from the tourist bureau that you shouldnt go out at night after the pubs shut, as you will see them fornicating on the road verges, and the footpaths :|
