View Full Version : Upholstery adhesive
Im replacing the old fabric on my interior and just wondering what is the best contact adhesive to use on upholstery? I was going to use quickgrip with thinners and spray it on but a few people have said that quickgrip is no good for that. So what should I use?

I have used 3M contact adhesive with success. Its a black/red can and you can get it from bunnings for about $30. Exxy but is awesome. Make sure you follow the instructions on the can properly though

^^ agree. ive used the 3M product (moderate strength one) to adhere carpet back to kickpanels.
also used it to put dirtbike graphics back on the plastics.
good stuff :)
so this stuff wont come off when the material gets hot in the sun?
Some guys that have used the spray adhasives from the cans have had the material start to peel off in the sun, but maybe this 3M stuff is stronger.

I used it when i made up a custom parcel shelf, and that sat in the sun a fair bit and didnt come off. The main thing is to follow the instructions properly (allow the correct cure time, dont use it on a cold day etc). Also if your doing a lot of curves it can be tricky if your using vinyl. You didnt say what your using but yeh vinyl is a bitch on curved surfaces.
