Have a read

WA 2007 Superbike Champion Matt Battista has sustained massive injuries during a race event at Wanneroo Raceway on June 29th 2008. An MRI scan confirmed the initial prognoses of paraplegia. As a result of Matt’s accident we have decided to temporarily withdraw from racing in this event for the remainder of 2008 as a mark of respect for Matt.

The race incident was major and Matt was transported to Joondalup Hospital before being transferred to Royal Perth Hospital with major spinal injuries.

Matt has sustained a dislocated shoulder, a broken shoulder and a number of broken ribs but the spinal injuries were the major concern.

On Monday Matt underwent an MRI scan which unfortunately confirmed the initial prognosis of paraplegia.

We here at BHS Engineering are shattered and will be behind the Battista family to provide ongoing support at this difficult time

There is a story on nine tomoro aca

Sad really.

It makes me wonder, why people who are commited to motorsport, who train and love it, have to be wheeled away, yet some filthy douchebag in a stolen VK will rial it up on its roof without a seatbelt, and STILL run from the cops.

I dont understand the grand scheme of things. To make matters worse, were running Hummers in Iraq now for $80 per litre (plus) diesel and fighting wars we didnt need, but we dont get the funding to find a cure for such things.

Anyways, Matt is in a pretty dismal point of his life now, he doesnt yet realise it, it will be a lot better soon enuf, but its a hard road ahead.
