Hey Guys,

Searching for an Underground Diamond Driller Offsider to work at Bellisle.

You need to be pretty tough and fit as its not the best conditions. But you get compensated pretty well.

Its to start on the 18th, and we would be needing you to come into the office tomorrow to complete the necessary forms.

Also - you will need to pass the GSDU (Gold Squad Police Clearance) and Drug and Alcohol Screening in order to be let on site.

So if you think that you know someone or yourself is interested can you please contact myself at Swick Mining on 9277 8800 or email me tahni.johnston@swickmining.com.au

Cheers

Tahni

Drillers don't hire people that don't have experience. They want everyone to have bulk experience... just my 2cents from trying for ages to go FIFO. I just changed field to get into a mine eventually.

tahni
12-08-2008, 07:57 AM
This roster i believe to be 2/1.
But depending what site your on the rosters are 2/1 1/1 and 2/2

The money is roughly $26 an hour and your working 12hour shifts. But on top of that you get incentives and bonuses everyday which can be a fair bit extra on top of your everday wage.

Emails received. Will be in touch shortly.

Thanks guys

Yeah but he'll move up from that and have the potential to earn 200k+ a year like my little brother being a slackass drill team supervisor, busting around in a ute all day doing fuckall if he wants, and my brother is one of the lowest paid supervisors on site due to his age.

I would but I'm just an offsider, havn't started on the levers yet :S

I was talking to one of the payroll girls on friday and she said she had just been retrenched aswell :/

14-12-2008, 03:44 PM
i just got the ass on friday too, along with my whole crew of operators, mine was shutting down anyway, but the client decided to pull a huge amount of rehab work and other shit we where meant to be hanging around for and going back next year to finish off..

ah well, small issue, theres still plenty of jobs going atm in the production side of things, just sucks to be in exploration or a management job thats not top tier and important...

that is because of nickel going down the loo so even digging it up is unprofitable to cover costs

they are still doing some major upgrades now they are not buying RIO

Ravensthorpe has been a dog from day 1. They were never going to make any money from it. Not a single lateritic nickel operation in WA has been successful.

Not if they're going to shut it down, but heavy duty fitter rarely have trouble finding jobs so he should still be fine in regards with finding another job asap.

Call 92264511 (DT Workforce) and ask for Dave or Loretta. Gauranteed top rates, swings will probably be 2/1 FIFO to the Pilbara though. Always looking for skilled people. Should have no problems as long as he has good references and is qualified.

Hey, it was actually 6 people. Doesn't matter a week after I left the whole lot (Sunrise Earthmoving) got kicked out of Cloudbreak. Then I heard a few days ago that someone in logistics farked up and FMG ran out of fuel for awhile ahahaha. But yea, fkn wankers. Tell me it's urgent, desperately need someone to start Xmas Day, get plane home 4 days later. So close to punching old mates lights the fuk out! DanWA
20-01-2009, 10:37 AM
Well he was working up North before but they canned the 1/1 roster and made it 2/1 so he left. He has kids so yeah 2 weeks is a long time to be away when they are young.

Suppose if he loses his job down south he'll have to put up with 2/1 then.

Confirmed. 2100 job losses. WA is a real boom or bust state unfortunately.

I wonder what the flow on effects of this are in 6 months time? I spoke to a building supervisor yesterday, he told me the company he worked for has had $400 million of construction cancellation. All 6 jobs they had on the cards are gone, and he thinks he may be out of a job.

The effect of the commodity pricing crash is much further reaching than first anticipated.

Certainly will shake a few up, my old man was given the heads up yesterday that shit was going down today. Most of the guys down there will find out Tues as to whether they are made redundant or re-assigned to other mines.

As you say Jas, will be interesting to see the fallout in 6months time

I work in recruitment and have done for the past 2 years. The market we've been in has been EXCEPTIONAL. Where we are slipping back to is just a normal market, it's certainly not a recession or "tough" market .... yet.

There's still places out there hiring and paying decent money. Wait til everyone is copping 20k pay cuts just to save their jobs and if they dont taking 2 months to find something new ... thats a tough market.

Chin up fellas, just cos everyone can't walk from one place to another and get 10k more doesnt mean theres not jobs out there. Just means you need to apply for 10+ these days and actually work for it.

where you at at Paraburdoo?? I setup Downer Edi's new mobile plant shift on explansion project 4.. just a contract.. when all 3 shifts were done i left...

heard a few weeks back downer lost the contract now all the operators are contracting direct to Rio.. and para hasnt got enuff on to keep them?

Im working for a good mob now but im worried how long were gonna last.. is there anythign going there?

15-05-2009, 04:24 PM
Ok thought I'd give you guys the tip off. We are looking for more offsiders.
Most likely 2/1 rosters.
You could end up on an RC rig, Surface rig or underground I don't know the pays for them except that its $312 a day + bonus for underground.

All you need is a good labouring background and you have a decent chance. This is very hard work so if your a sook or a dickhead don't apply. But for the rest of you posting up on here this is defeniatly worth a try (BTW Im not a recruiter I've just been in the office helping lately while on light duties and have found out about the positions)

Good luck guys!

Oh yeh you can get details from www.swickmining.com.au

Swick's a good company to work for too, when the boom was on they were making most of their rosters 8 n 6.. Dunno about now, I haven't been FIFO for a fair while.

Good to hear your still going dude...alot of people that i kept in contact from there made the comment there were heaps of redundancies - left right and center.
You will need to be able to get a police clearance as well and pass a medical :)

Yeh still going haha, I was made redundant for 2 months when they lost all the kambalda nickel contracts because all of the nickel mines shut down but just as they promised as soon as they had a position they got me back, and luckily ALL the good blokes I worked with aswell and also luckily alot of the dickheads seem to have dissappeared haha.
Most of the offsider and driller rosters are 2/1 with the Supervisors and fitters on 9/5
Some are on 2/2 but not many.

I've been helping out bellwire alot as he swamped with inductions haha, hes a champ aye. Chances are if any of you guys do get a position in the next 2 weeks you'll see me at inductions.

Looks like it according to this but I know they are REALLY hunting for offsiders aswell. Its a VERY good opportunity for people considering the amount of people on here looking for jobs.

As for truckies I'm not to sure but they are looking for people in the stores and stuff.

They have recently got alot of contracts and now most of the rigs are back up and spinning so I dare say in a few months there will be more and more jobs available as they start expanding again. This time they are heavily into gold aswell which is a bit more secure than nickel.

Good luck to those applying, I got the Job thanks to Tahni posting it on here so I thought hopefully if I post it some of you guys can beat the recession aswell!

try ausdrill for surface work or boart longyear. underground you can try swick, barminco and a few others. heaps of drilling companies around always lookin for offsiders (most either get out of the game or move up onto the levers and start drilling). good way to get your foot in the door for mining anyway. exploration is starting to fire up again.
