copied from evo oz-

I just had the Cams inspector around to go through my vehicle in order to get the log book and sort it out for a B Class Registration.

In a nutshell, he advised that unless the vehicle is built now Fully to a rally vehicle specifications, and competes a minimun of 1 gravel rally a year, they will no longer B Class register the vehicles. If you don't compete in one rally they will remove the license.

He then went through the things that have to be done in order to make the vehicle pass through different cams events, and it seems my EVO 3 was a bad choice for targa events because basically the vehicle has to be converted back to nearly stock on everything in order to do Targa West.

So I can't get it road licensed being EVO 3, can't get it B Class licensed, and if I was even able to get it road licensed, the mods required for Targa in relation to roll cage etc would then make it illegal on the road anyway.

Talk about really making it difficult to have a vehicle to do these type of events. The rep was saying how many vehicles that used to compete are now illegal to compete in some of these events and that he has had many unhappy people in the last year who have found out the hard way on these rules.

Bit disappointed as it has certainly shelved many of my plans for some upcoming events.

Anyway main thing is to let others know, before you even buy a car that you plan on getting B Class Registered, do some more research first because at this moment, its basically not really an option for a road going vehicle any more.

So if you currently have a B rego and the car dose not compete in a CAMS event within 12 months it will be de-registered?

What if the car has taken longer than 12 months in a workshop?

What if you have a Tarmac car registered under B reg, cant Rally that.

Thats all kinds of ghey.

It can be liscenced for a number of CAMS Events not just rally, If you liscence it for the purpose of rally then yes it must have a cage etc etc, If its for Targa then it must meet those requirements... If its a Motorkanah car.... what cage ;)

Effectively the cams Rep signs off that it is appropriate for the type of motorsport you wish to enter. You must be a member of the appropriate CAMS club for that motor sport.

I called CAMS on tuesday about B-rego-ing my FD for targa/classic rally sort of stuff and got told pretty much the same thing, ..

that b-reg was changing and you would have to be doing gravel rallying >.<

I call bullshit too

the B class system is effectivly getting the arse, well its meant to have happened by now...

the new system will still have plates for the cars, but will be rally specific, will work on a permit system for a month, 3 months a year etc...

it was also going to be more open to cars so stuff like drift cars will eb able to rally reg the car so they can get to and from events without copping a yellow provided thsats all the car will be used for, if you want a regod daily, your stuck with a class..

in reality, if they changed b-reg so you had to compete in one gravel rally a year, it would be the end of targa west, dutton and numerous other events held in WA..

as bobbo said, he probably copped one of the rally spankers who think b reg should be for gravel only cars, and the rest of the world can get stuffed, and saddly its cock jockeys like him who have caused a lot of the hassle witht he b-reg system, by crying whenever a road rally based car has b-reg..

there has also been a lot of people who abused the system by rego'ing daily cars under b-reg, which is why they are heading to rally specific plates...

would it be hard converting a car that is 'B' cams licensed back for road use?

is it possible?

Very! If the car was imported to be a B Reg then your pretty much farked if you want to make it full rego because legally/technically you cant. If the Car Complies and Has import approval to be here under SEVS or RAWS then yeah you can liscence it. If not then Id invest in a credit card so you can buy lots and lots of permits
