2000 onwards has been pretty tame going by what ive heard from the pre-japspec generation.

Last antilag cruise = 200 plus cars - I gotta say I didnt know half the cars there.

Back in the older antilag days, you could say hello to everyone by name and still have over 100 cars.

from my observation of street cars etc since i was 10 or so it seems like a bit of a dying scene, a lot of people these days seem to jump on the street car band wagon without really appreciating it as a whole - doing it for the image without really appreciating the car or what goes with it.

would a lot of the older members agree that scene is dying out slowly? i feel that ive never been to many cruises which are actually worth while, let alone bothering to use fuel on - and on top of it half of them are run by want to be brian spillners - seems like everyones part of a car club these days. watching videos like this make it seem like the entire scene had a culture about it back in the day, like everyone knew eachother, everyone had fun - always a story to tell from a cruise

anyway thats enough from me and its a bit off topic, but im intrested to hear what everyone else has to say

When I first started "cruising" about 5 or 6 years ago it was about mates and having a laugh and a good time. Started with the clubs (FPV/Tickford Owners) and that was great, real appreciation for the cars and the people. Too many clubs have come and gone, so the "belonging" or sense of pride in a club has all but disappeared, leaving you with the "randomz" and "blacklisted" type "clubs".

Bring back the days of going for a fang out the back roads... finding a gravel pit to go nuts in, an a nice quiet stretch of road :D

Cruises are fucked these days.

My favorite cruise memorie was most of the older Antilag crew, people like TJ, Brockas, Marbles, Bam, Lozzle, Gav n Sally, Chris etc. I think were there. We went all over Perth and ended up at Whitfords shopping centre. This box Pulsar rocked up with a car load of pingpingpingpings and started trying to be funny by driving in big circles pretending to be doing donuts. Gav ran up the steps followed by a few of us and he lined this Pulsar up with a trolley and let rip, smashed into it then threw a trolley pole at it. hahaha :lol:

Even though im 19, and i drive a car that isnt your average 19yr olds street car, i find theres nothing the scene has to offer anymore to offer, every cruise ive been on mostly consists of just randoms with cars driving around aimlessly - often getting lost etc.

No ones even that friendly either. The people with serious cars and actual appreciation for the scene are all an older generation. Coming back from Salon today its scary to see the amount of degenerate kids walking around.

Factor in fuel prices, hoon law changes, bulk media hate - its almost sad knowing ill never get a chance to really enjoy my passion for my car.

Then they began to yell shit, then he did a handbrakey and nearly ploughed someones car, and then it was on. Gav running after it was gold, and then I pinged it with the car trolley, something which we wouldnt have done unless the guy was being reckless.

I think the night a certain R35 GTR owner absolutely destroyed a Getz gearbox and then we taught a plater how to do skids in his vl in the oil from said getz gearbox was also golden.

i dont own a honda but i know alot of the WA honda crew because my mate had a honda and i went to the cruises/ barbecues with him etc.
an antilag cruise BBQ /park day would be good to meet faces properly and its not like just a cruise its more of a social event so you actually meet people and talk properly, kick a footy around or play cricket or whatever floats ur boat.

I feel for you haha. When I sold my R32 I was on my 3rd RB20 in 3 months. Luckily this guy bought it. It was the RB20 out of Clint's R32 drift weapon PANIK.

But yes cars are a fucked. I'm just about to finish my rebuild in GC8. Cracked a head after my radiator split, drained fluid and was running near 2 bar. It's a hobby you gotta love but HATE.
