I know XSpeed is the sole WA tuner/provider for these and are very knowledgable but has anyone got or heard any non-biased opinions of this ecu?

I am taking it in to consideration as an option for my VVT-i 2JZ and at this stage its looking pretty good.

Price aside, I want to know how good an ecu it is, is it easy to tune etc. What have people heard from experience?

Cheers.

Bobbo would be the man to talk to.

He has one in the grey GTR.

I'm not too sure nowadays, but about 3 years ago Shibby had one in his hot house green shitter CA18 with 300+rwhp when it came over from Japan. I'm pretty sure he did a burnout near my house and cracked the exhaust manifold, he replaced it and the tune went all fucked up and he couldn't get it re-tuned back then.

But when it was tuned and running properly, it was awesome. Some claim to be the best ECU to date.

Are you sure? Thought it had a motec m4 in it, and if its changed to one since, certainly not going to be able to give a description of how it runs the car. Happy to be corrected if Im wrong though!

Because when he had the car no one in Perth was a tuner, and you need the special f-con usb dongle to tune the car.

Fairly sure his was the older version of the ECU too.

I know Steve ran one in the white 8 MR, so speak to him for his thoughts on the ECU.

Obviously this is second hand , but Yoda has said its a very good ecu to tune, but nothings perfect of course.

being plug n play, and specifically designed to suit 2JZ, its about as close to a Power FC-like ecu I can get and still control the VVT-i.

Most Toyotas in Japan run the F-Con Pro V, so if its good for them, its good for me.

Im pretty much sold on it, Just as long as XSpeed doesnt go under or Yoda hangs up his tuning boots :)

F-Con Pro V, the latest one?

what happens if for whatever reason Xspeed loses its ability to tune the f-con.
up creek, without paddle.

thats the only down side, but im not expecting the car to need a tune on a regular basis so i should be OK.

Im surprised the F-Con Pro V isnt more popular, its very well spec'd even compared with Motec.

Yeah was running it the night it chopped marbles ;)

This is a valid point of course. But Deluca is in a position where his ECU choice is rather limited, and this is certainly one of his better choices.

yeah, if not F-Con, then i need to triple the costs and look at Motec or Autronic.

I dont have that sort of cash.

Haltech is an option, but I dont want it.

vi-pec or whatever was mentioned on here by lumpy?

Then he has the same issue of only one tuner, so that doesnt really improve things.

but is the software is available to the owner?, and someone else could tune it if required, vs locked via hardware dongle
