paint should be the same price, and likely less work required to buff etc.
Matt is apparently really hard to get looking really good.

glad my cousin is a panelbeater, need some spray work done myself.

You have obviously never sprayed a car,

firstly, black is the hardest colour to get right. And no spray painter is going to send a shit job out because you wanted it done cheap, because when you say "Ahh yeh i got my car sprayed by BBK", you will always leave out the fact that you said "Oh yeh i couldnt afford a good spray so thats why it looks shit". So his reputation would eat the shit, and no one wants that in this day and age.

Either pay for it to be done right, Or do it yourself.

I did mine, as thats the kind of person i am. And looks like shit but im still proud of it cos i did it.

2xbunnings compressors ($200), a spray gun (100 bux - 2nd hand cashies) some sandpaper, bog (if needed), masking tap, newspaper, primer and paint....

u can hire out spray booths these days or just line the walls of your garage in tarps.

theres bulk information on the next for tips and guides on how to go about starting if u have never done it b4 and at the end of the day, actually spraying isnt all that hard, its just the prep work that u put into it which speaks for the results.

if u want some inspiration

have fun, its a shit of a job, but atlest u will appreciate your car more if u do it yourself. it also wont take long to realise that painters dont ask all that much to spray cars hahah

I'm with josh on this one you guys a fucking dreamers thinking you are going to get spray jobs cheap these days.

panel shops especially the good ones are booked solid for months we have 50 cars in our shop every night and we are book 4 weeks in advance.

it is not something you can tackle in your shed, if you have a dodgy neighbour who decides to call the EPA your screwd, we had to spend 8g's on a water drain back system just so we could wash our customers cars.

get out of the dreamland.

i think he is somehow comparing painting A car in a residential garage to running a panel and paint business with regards to epa

and that he has a fucking big shop to store 50 cars booked weeks in advanced waiting for paintjobs each night

what i'm saying cokk is that you will get done and then you will have a nice bill in the mail the next week.

the epa and the residents in your area will not like it.

and the point i was making bout our shop is that panel and paint is so busy these days you will struggle to get a booking, and evan more lucky to get a respray on a old car, that is why shops quote a big $$$$ value so that if you agree it is worth pulling a tradesman off the insurance job he is doing to do your car, unless the shop trades as a place for cheap resprays dont bother asking.

we dont even quote cars unless they are going through insurance.

panel shops dont need shitters in there shop to survive.

Owen doesnt usually bring flowers and smiles to threads but he raises a good point. And seeing as hes in the industry id be going off what he says.

I know for a fact if someone came into my shop, asking for a gas conversion done cheap cos its a shitter. Id tell them to turn around, and go home.

then again you get small businesses like Bensons BBK Custom who do little insurance work and mainly resprays and touch ups and survive well too so different strokes

just spray it in ya garage in the middle of the day when no ones home.

i had mine done in ford ego, engine bay, inside and out (door jambs, boot everything) for a little over $1500.

but i paid for nothing but the paint, thinners, blah blah blah.

i helped him do the prep, he did the majority though to make sure it got done right.

the pain job is fucking flawless, and i understood afterwards why it costs so much to get it done, prep work is INCREDIBLE!

Doesnt matter what you pay either, insurance work will always take preference over your car - even when you pay retail.
