Heyas,

I'll be heading off the Japan in a couple of months and I'm aiming to
catch the D1 Street Legal East Division round at Ebisu on Sunday
September the 14 2008.

What I'm unsure about is how to buy tickets etc. Do I need to pre
purchase? Can you get tickets at the gates?
I'm keen on getting a view from above that tyre wall just after the pits
that everyone crashes into :)

I was hoping that someone who's been to this event or something similar
at Ebisu could shed some light.

FYI, I've got maps and directions on how to get there.

To get to Ebisu - get a train to the station "Nihonmatsu" and then it
is around a $50 taxi ride from there. Show the taxi driver this map -
traino is bottom right and ebisu is the red dot.

For those that are interested, here are some awesome pics of the 2006
round of this event.

usually you can just buy tickets at the gate. being street event shouldnt be to packed.

Where are you staying ?

if its tokyo i would forget the train. Unless there is bullet train option.

Took us close to three hours to get to tsukuba and thats about 1/3 the distance from tokyo compared to Ebisu. If you are in tokyo seriously consider hiring car, MUCH cheaper, faster and you get to see bulk more !

We will be based in Tokyo and our original plan was to catch the first train in the morning to Nihonmatsu -> taxi to Ebisu -> Watch some sick drift -> taxi to Fukushima to hold up for the night -> Taxi back to Ebisu for the 2nd day of drift - Taxi to Nihonmatsu -> train to Toyko.

That looks like a couple of hundred dollars just spent on taxis...

Thanks for the tip mate, there's 4 of us so it would work out quite reasonable to hire a car. Plus we can crash in it for the night and squeeze in more drift!

With 4 people its a no brainer, Hire car for sure, cost you $20ea per day for a nice car with sat nav n shit.

The train trip to Tsukuba cost us around $80 each return and another $60 in taxi. I reckon your trip could go into the $200 + each range if you used taxi / train.

If you want some tips on how to hire car n stuff, pm me :) happy to share some links and things i learned.
