Hot off the press is a new ecu option. I am the dealer here in Perth. The plug in range should be a huge success especially with the nissan range.

Check the website for more info www.vi-pec.com and below are some breif specs.

The V44 standalone has 4 injector and 4 ignition outputs. The plug-in ECU based on the V44 have six injector and six ignition outputs. The V88 model has 8 injector and 8 ignition outputs. Also it has knock control and DBW throttle control. Both ECU have motorsport features like antilag, WOT shift, launch control.

These ECU use a 32 bit microcontroller running at 42Mhz. This processor is designed for engine control and has the power and speed to work with crank and cam trigger signals in real time. It does not use the time based system like the Autronic. The result is far more stable ignition and injector control. On engines with multitooth crank triggers the ECU reads and uses every signal for maximum resolution.

Some of the features are,
Missing tooth engines can run wasted spark without a sync signal.
User can set reluctor input signal threshold. (this lets you tune out any interference)
Variable cam control for up to four cams. (V88 only)
Outputs can be controlled by GPC tables or PID with feedback.
ECU case is extruded with water proof connectors. Case is small and not box shaped (looks very good).
V44 has one connector and the V88 has two connectors.
Idle control is very very good and very easy to setup.
No popping in the exhaust on overrun with smooth transition in and out of over run
Fixed duty boost control.
Different boost in each gear.
Dual fuel and Ignition tables that can be externally switched.
Up to 12 cylinder multi coil engine support
DBW throttle control (V88)
QuickTune (Autotune) feature on both V44 and V88.

Inputs and Outputs:

V44 injector = 4
V44 ignition = 4
V44 analog inputs = 3/4*
V44 temp inputs = 2
V44 digital inputs = 3/4*
V44 AUX outputs =8
V44 Connector pin number = 34 (one connecter)

*one Digital input shares the same pin as one analogue input

V88 injector = 8
V88 ignition = 8
V88 analog inputs = 11
V88 temp inputs = 4
V88 digital inputs = 10
V88 AUX outputs = 10
V88 Knock input = 2
V88 Connectors pin number = 2 x 34 (two connecter)
V88 has:
- E-Throttle (drive by wire throttle)
- Peak & Hold (individual P&H current control)
- Dual Knock
- 4MB of logging memory

Both ECU's have:
- 8V out
- 5V out
- Trigger in = 2
- USB Coms connector
- Can Bus Coms connector

- All spare injection and ignition channels can be auxiliary outputs

Sounds interesting.

Keen to see a demo car of some sorts.

In fact let me know when you have something come up Lumpy.

Pricing - $1515 + GST for the R33 plug-in. Supply only, with start-up map.

The cable comes with it, and the software is online, as will be firmware updates.

Anyone can buy the ecu from me and anyone can tune it. I will be offering a tuning service if anyone is interested, or they can go to wherever else they like.

Online support is via the vipec customer forum.

I will not be selling the system online, mail order, via this forum, nor advertising price lists here. I am not a commercial subscriber to antilag.

i'll be very keen on this in a few months once the dust settles

Lumpy,

Since this was developed by Ray Hall? And this website looks much like the old Autronic website. Would it be correct to assume this Vi-pec ECU has similar characteristics to the Autronic SMC/SM4 range?

If so, this is the ECU from the Ray Hall/Autronic fall out. And if that is correct, the pricing is very good for what your getting!

Correct/Not correct?

Lumpy
13-07-2008, 08:29 PM
Absoltuely nothing to do with any autronic product. The similarity with the websites is because Ray owned www.autronic.com and the content.

There are several autronic like features in the new ecu that were too good to ignore, so they were improved upon and implemented. The next thing to be sorted is the logging, and not what you log but how you interpret the data....... stay tuned.

well i had the install and tune last week and am very happy.
power is down a couple kw compared to mines chipped ecu but new boost solenoid should fix that as my ebc solenoid is stuffed and turbotech bleed valve bleeds about 5 psi @ top end son once thats installed and and a touch up tune it should prolly make around 320 @ rears .
I'm just glad i dont have to worry about bloody AFM's anymore

Should be alot easier to drive and better on fuel without the mines rom anyway?

if you use the built in boost controller, is there a way to flick from a "low" to "high" boost setting? Or is the boost level set via lap top and unabled to be changed?

gazza750
17-08-2008, 11:45 PM
not a lot of difference with fuel economy so far and boost is set by laptop you can have boost settings set @ diff rpm @ gears for max performance

is there a way of changing boost levels without the laptop?

ie have a missle switch like in a dual stage and just flick between 2 different levels? or is it once its set, thats it?

Yes depending on available inputs.

yeah you can have a rocket switch, just had a plug in vipec for my gtst went very well pulled 254 rwhp on 7 pound the car runs smoother , better and i am getting a good fuel economy, would highly recommend this ecu
