Natsoft Results:
Best of the Best Shootout - Open Class:
1st - Lotus Elise (Modified) - 1:12.1100
2nd - Mark Berry R32 GTR (Modified) - 1:12.8220
3rd - Dave Loftus R32 GTR (Modified) - 1:12.9500
4th - Bel Garage Evo 9 RS (Modified) - 1:13.1380
5th - Tim Mackie Lotus Elise (Modified) - 1:13.2440
7th - Martin Notaras Whiteline Evo 9 RS (Modified) - 1:15.9550
11th - R35 GTR (Stock - OEM 'Summer' Tyres with Speed Cut Removed) - 1:17.1290

Interesting results. Considering the calibre of the top placed cars, the 35 GTR did very well.

The Lotus' being the big surprise, taking out the Berry GTR is no mean feat.
(The Elise's running on Kumho V700 tyres with supercharged JDM K20A's - about 260hp).

They're very fast cars - light with very useable power.
Having driven one I can vouch for their speed around a track (Wakefield).

They've got about 50hp on the original Exige S (same as Lukian and mine) and weigh 170 - 200kg less.

The GTR just got untidy, and it hooked right into the wall.

The EVO was going 12/10's

yeah there were quite a few people going quite too hard...and it showed as they spun!

Oh, they had a driver feedback form and they mentioned perth, brisbane, melbourne etc as other places to have these evnts at.

stock exige vs what looks to be highly modified elise?

I hope this grows and comes to Perth awesome concept, it reminds me of improved production only better

id like you to validate that.

a) its 200cc bigger
b) more power, more torque, and higher redline
b) much better aftermarket support
c) proven power potential

btw this is in naturally aspirated form.
This is without looking into which cars came with each motor stock.

then thats fair enough!

i wasnt disagreeing just requiring some substance behind the statement.

dont really knowmuch about the k20a.. didnt think it revved harder then 8500rpm though...
K20a is a cool conversion :)

its a very well put together motor, head flows are through the roof for a production motor.
big aftermarket support in both japan and the USA, starting to get more prevalent here but exxy!

they also tend to come in better cars (lotii excepted).
Corolla and celica both had issues with gear ratio's. Shifting at redline dropped you off the high cam a lot of the time.

Easily fixed with a Controler for the valve lift though, Either increase redline, or drop the "lift" RPM 500 rpm earlier, would aleviate the problem

Fun little motor :)

yeah, was talking in stock form :)
From what Ive seen from dyno graphs and forum talk, engaging the VVTL-i earlier leads to a nasty torque hole, and not 100% sure on how well they take to a bump in the rev limiter (stock being 8200rpm).

k20a and 1.8 audi turbo motors are very common swaps into lotus elise's over in england...

apparently people are making 300 odd hp with both of those motors without too much stress..

my brother in london is currently looking to buy one already with the engine swap ... going to have to go over and give it a trash when he gets it. :D
