Ok I would like to have some tunes in the birkin for those times stuck in traffic.
Is there a way to stick a couple of speakers under the dash powered by the car battery and controlled with the ipod, no head unit and prefably no amps due to lack of space?
i guess they would be a small p/a style speaker rather than a incar speaker.
thanks

I'd use an ipod dock of any sort, and make a mount for it. You could rig it up so the dock runs off 12V or ciggy lighter for hot-swap. Good cheap station is made by logitech for example. Plenty to choose from.
The only other way of doing it on 12V without a deck is to get a small amplifier, some speakers of choice then using a lead. Ipod to headphone jack into stereo RCA into amp input.

Having no heard them, your guess is as good as mine. I'd say it'd sound pretty awful simply based on their purpose. Did you want it to be removable, or imbedded for the life of the car?

Go the cheapy-china route mate. fleaBay-spec any day of the week when it comes to little things like this. I bought a cradle that plugs into the cigarrette lighter that charges my iPod Nano and broadcasts over FM radio... even though my car aerial on my boot lid has snapped off, it still picks it up clear.
It's now about 2.5 years old, and it's only just died... that's mostly from me hitting my knee against it every couple of days though, I think.
Add that to the fact that you will probably be paying $20, including postage.
Or is the problem that you don't have a headunit at all? If that's the problem, it's easy to fix =P
