What is a muppet?

Officially, it’s a derivative of a forum troll…but in antilag.com forum speak, it is someone who does one of the following:

- Joins the forum and posts crap to get their post count up, so they can post in the for sale section.
- Posts complete and utter shit in threads.
- Starts arguments for no justified reason.
- Does not attempt to use a reasonable level of punctuation or proper grammar in their posts, making them hard or impossible to read.
- Ignores moderators requests, such as no bumps, or pointless commenting in for sale threads.

I’m a muppet…what can I do?

Simple. Stop doing the above. THINK before you post, its not that hard!

If you don’t want to stop doing it, you will be subjected to the following:
- 1st incident: A gentle first warning.
- 2nd incident: A second and final warning.
- 3rd incident: A ban, with the severity being decided upon the moderators discretion.

But I notice that a lot of people do it, including some long term members. Why are they allowed to do it?

If you haven’t already noticed, Antilag is one of the most laid-back forums around. The moderators aren’t harsh or strict, in fact, we let a lot slide and almost anything goes. Many of the long time members do one of the above every now and then, and this isn’t regarded as muppet behaviour.

Read carefully: The ones who are exhibiting the above behaviour are normally those who have just joined the forums.
Read carefully again: The ones who are exhibiting the above behaviour are normally those who have just joined the forums.
Read carefully AGAIN: The ones who are exhibiting the above behaviour are normally those who have just joined the forums.
One more time: THE ONES WHO ARE EXHIBITING THE ABOVE BEHAVIOUR ARE NORMALLY THOSE WHO HAVE JUST JOINED THE FORUMS.

..aaaand?

Oh and one more thing. The moderators reserve the right to ban on the spot, with no warnings given. Don't like it? Not a lot you can do, so again, just use your common sense and you won't have to worry about it! :)

SO, if you are a new user, or one who hasn’t got much posting experience….the above means you. It isn’t a threat, its just a gentle reminder that we are now watching you and you will be given two chances. This should be plenty of opportunity for you to change your posting habits and enjoy the forums just like everyone else.

Thanks :)

To add to this:

Just because you've been around for 6 months and think you're an 'established member', doesn't mean you can ignore the above...
