Plasma/LCD screens + ps3's

Hi dudes

Im looking to get a middle of the run (ie a bit of a shitter) LCD screen and ps3 on finance through harveys. To get a bit of a credit rating and what not.

Has anyone bought a 42 inch LCD screen that they can recommend? Its for my bedroom so it doesn't have to be super flash, or have super features. Just something middle of the run.

Also, does anyone on here have hookups for this kind of gear?

I got a no name 42" plasma from the good guys for $900 with 2 year warranty and the picture is sweet as. (run it off a HD set top box and xbox 360/ps3)

Good choice BALISTC, i use this myself 52inch Sony Bravia XBR even connect it with my computer as well. The pic and the function is excellent. You should wait for few months more there's new one coming out :)

Watch out on the stores finances they usually have stupidly high interest.

I Just pick up a 32" plasma from JB on Friday for my room at $700 no name brand (Soniq) with HD and in built tuner.

The 42" from the same brand was $900.

Really good quality for the price and one year warranty (2 years costs more) can't complain really happy with it.

Got a PS3 on Thursday, they all seem to be around the same price now $700 with a game and controller I got the GT5 prologue pack from Kmart, good if your a GT5 fan.

JB's have it for 3700, 3500 after cashback.

I thought that was pretty good, as its comparable to similarly sized Full HD LCD's and Plasmas.

Dont have any info yet, but thats what i heard from West Coast Hifi. Oversea is already out but not in Australia yet so far i know :)

Pic quailty, brightness, contrast.. blah blah Plasma will come out ontop everytime if its two decent models in comparison.

Theres one sitting in my lounge room, non stolen $900 and crisp clear bright pic. Shat on the display LCDs in the shop for pic quality.

there is a reason why lcds are cheaper..

if on tight budget, those soniq plasmas at JB hifi are good. :) Personally would rather add that extra $100-200 and get a branded one like samsung/panasonic though

You can't "build" a good credit rating, only stuff one up and get a bad credit rating.

Just got a few Sony Bravia LCD's, definetely the best rated LCD. The 40 inch one was a V Series and managed to get that for $1,250 or so from JB Hifi after cash back. With some good negotiation I'm sure you can get close to that.

i got a no name one through my work. aiko, it's got an lg/phillips lcd panel though so after talking to make who used to work at dj's in the electrical department he told me it had to be assembled in the same factory. got it hooked up to dvd&fox via hdmi pcmi for laptop connection, home stereo theatre and hd tv via component. had it for 18 months now and for $740 for a 82cm i'm still happy with it

that's weird, when we were shopping for a new tv around july last year the lcd's were a fair bit more expenisve than the plasma's
we ended up with a 50' samsung which i've been very very happy with, the 42' lcd were all at least 300 bucks more

Yeah they were a heap more expensive a year ago. My Panasonic 42 was 1900 back then and I thought I had a good deal :(

Got me a semi no name with a samsung panel 42 inch lcd + a ps3 + a wall mount + a hdmi cable + a game for 2200. With a 3 year in home warrenty on the screen

Was the best looking unit they had, the panasonic was decent, but i much prefer this ones look and picture, some pictures just dont seem right. This one was on the money

Got it all from JB in ozzy park.

Yaaaa very good point. The Pioneer plasmas are really nice but cost coin. The panasonic/lg ones are decent and the soniq or watever are pretty average but then I guess they are cheap. The sony lcd's are by farrrr the best lcd but again they are the most expensive of the lcds too. Remember what you see in a bright store and what you see in a darker room at home are too very different things with plasma's and lcds!

End of the day you get what you pay for

dont fuck around with these tiny screens, 100" of love shining on the wall from a Panasonic HD projector is how to roll.

other TV is a 50" LG HD plasma, was the best value for money/picture quality set I saw at the time of buying. looked much better than the Panasonic, Hitachi and Samsung and was several 100s cheaper at the time. Pioneer, Sony and Fujitsu were better but alot more $$$.

I found anything bigger than 37" on a LCD and plasma would kill it for picture quality.
