I have a yellow top Optima battery that has been sitting in the garage for a few months without use. Tried to put it on the car but it was flat.
Think it went down to about 7volts. I have been charging the battery for about 5 hours a night for the past few nights and the voltage wont go over 10.5, then within 30mins it's back down to 8.5volts.

What am I doing wrong? The charger I'm using is a 12volt charger 4amps. Does it need a special type of charger to charge?
Is there somewhere in Perth that I can take it to get charged and tested?

The battery is less than a year old and has been sitting for about 3 months. Could it be stuffed? These batteries are ment to be good and able to sit without usage for long periods of time :dunno:

Try Battery world
Apparently deep cycle batteries don't like being left flat for a while, despite the sales pitch.

Mine did this too.

I took it to battery world also and they got it going again but they are never the same apparently, can't carry the same charge or something.
