Hey might be buying a series 2 12a extend port, but blows the tinyiest amount of black smoke, its hard to see but happened when it started so was alittle worried, is it ok to blow alittle smoke then it clears up straight away, like took less than half a second to clear up. any rotor guys think this is ok, doesnt mean the oil seals are going or anything like that cause otherwise this engine is in pretty good condition. series 2's have redline buzzers hahaha, i dont think i should be knowing that though.
cheers

Just sounds like its a bit rich on startup.
Nothing to worry about though..
You will know if the oil control rings are going (that will make it smoke heaps on startup)
And if it still makes power then all your apex seals are goodo...
Could also be a little bit of carbon buildup blowing out if its only on startup...
i'd only be concerned when it blows blue smoke when its warm, otherwise nothin to be worried bout...
p.s a comp check wouldnt hurt either if u are still concerned about it...

prob just the cold start enrichment
black is good smoke, blue or white is bad

rotary rules
1. try not to drive b4 its up to the cold mark on ur temp gague
2. never rev cold
3. never boost until up to operating temp (bout 80degrees i think)
unless u use premix u will use oil cos of the OPM, i use up to half a dipstick every 1-2 weeks
if its really white then its probably coolant, that wood explain having to top that up
coolant will have a sweet smell if burnt, go have a wiff of ur exaust wen it happens

ah k yeh that was the only time i reved it hard, other then that its pretty clean. OPM?, i drive when its just past the cold mark. i topped it up with the same oil penright HPR 30.

oops OMP (oil metering pump)
injects a little bit of ur engine oil into the housing to lube the seals
u can disconect it and run premix (like running a 2 storke)
yer just dont boost it till u get to operating temp
as long as that HPR30 is mineral oil u'll be fine
ive been using castrol magnatec
