Yep i am the best fisherman here ;)

Best game reel to get would have o be the TLD series from shimano!
Great quality and good price!

Depends what size you are after but go for the TLD25. They are around $199 at the moment!!!!

Or if you are after bigger then go the TLD50

Depends where you live but id you go to tackleshack malaga and ask for Brendon and tell him Tailor Marc sent ya, he will look after you

I use the TLD25 for ballooniong off the cliff of steep point and trolling lures off boats and also off busso jetty and the TLD's kick ass! Bullet proof!

bit late but yep what ninja said

i have a tld20,25, 30 and a 50 all matched to particular roads.

Up here if you go fishing you dont go for minnows, most fish are in excess of 15kg

Ask for Jim and tell him what you are after. Tell him Marc sent you amd he will look after ya.

He is one of the most well known blokes in perth for custon rods. He also sells new rods and reels from home. I picked up a shimano rod and reel combo
for $100! Good quality and perfect

He is in westminster

Okay I'll claim best fisherwoman then!!:p
I'd agree with the Shimano's for both deep and river fishing ... used to like Penn's until I kept having to rebuild them after getting some serious fish outside the continental shelf in NQld, and watching them break.

Basically how long is a piece of string. Its all dependant on budget, if you just want to go occassionaly then a kmart spesh combo would suffice till you wanted to get more into it.

Dusk or dawn is generally the better times, I dont think tide movements play a great role down in perth ( cant remember to be honest) but up here we can have 8-10 metres of movement inside of 8hrs so tides count big times. 1hr either side of the lowest & highest tide is the best time for schooling fish

Yeh true, yeh for now i was just looking entry spec. As long as the reel was good value for money like a daiwa, the rod could just be a kmart shakespeare special ha.

Cheers

you just missed out on a sale at bcf
they had penn 850's for 129. no longer made in usa but they are still good strong reels

fuck kmart specials
they are not made to last and not smooth at all

i reckon any decent beach rod will do
should be able to get something 12ft with fuji guides for under 100
dont really need to spend big bucks for something sensitive unlike bream fishing

most of the time i lob out big baits with heavy sinkers and just wait for runs. i love the shimano baitrunner 6500 for this purpose as you can let a fish run for a bit then lock the drag and fight it

i also use a penn 8500ss made in usa on the beach. clunky and doesnt lay line as well as the new model, but is strong as and never misses a beat.

they pop up from time to time for under 100
id prob grab one of them and load it with 20-30lb mono

I’ve had TLD 25 for years, caught several large 25kg Spaniards, big reds etc. up here in Karratha with it, never had a problem. Give it a quick strip down and lube every year and it will never fail you.

yeah i agree tld's are great reels

but for a beginner casting an overhead will be birds nest central

id stick to an egg beater.
have a look at some of the fishing forums
can pick up some cheap gear sometimes

What's some good perth fishing forums and sites etc?

I was told to check seabreeze.com.au for wind/weather/tides etc.... but to be honest this was by someone who knew what they were doing (young fishing rep of wa), as long as it isn't raining and my bourbons are cold it's game on for fishing ha.

Yeh casting an overhead for me would lead to a quick end of the night.

Where you been fishing lately upgarage?
