wot exactly does it do, there pretty cheep and i wouldnt mind lookin into 1 when i get an oil cooler

they catch blowby oil from the vent in your rocker cover which would normally vent into your intake. Having blowby go into your intake coats your turbo and intercoolers with a thin layer of oil lowering efficiency and the oil droplets also lower the octane of your fuel

Just cleaned mine out last week for the first time and was amazed how full it was.

A good investment imho.

so technically speaking all that oil built up in there could end up glazing the inside of the intercooler turbo etc?

yeah thats correct. to be legal they still have to be plumbed back into your intake. but if u get a decent jap brand one they will filter pretty much all the oil out of the air. better just to have it breathing to atmo though. no chance of oil that way.

dont forget to hose it out of the engine bay... that or get used to smelling like an oily rag

Id say they all would as thats the key to them doing what they are designed for. Some of the china copies are cheap and get the job done. but sometimes they dont have any form of filter or collecter inside them or its inadequate. some can have metal shavings in them which will get caught and blow through your intake/turbo/engine. So if you go copy then double check before you install it.

Basically go jap and you wont have any problems. Brands such as Greddy and Cusco. Embelton Engineering also make them wether it be a custom job or a radiator mounted one.

basicly if u up the boosdt in ya car its best to have a catchcan dusnt need to be flash .. but they do help with oil temp ect ..
