Hi

Basically just want to get my ipod nano to connect to deck. VZ SS has Blaupunkt with 6cd stacker.. getting bored of burning CDs all the time. I know the option of the FM transmitters, but is there any place which can hardwire it to the stock deck and run a cable to the glovebox etc? So I can plug in iPod, and it will also charge it, then remove when I need to.
If so which places and what prices am I looking at?

Thanks

didnt know you could do that to a stock vz stereo? does the unit have like a AUX source button? would need to have inputs on the back of the unit to work, dont think they do to be honest.

edit, mate bought the tape adapter, worked surprisingly well actually but didnt sound as good as the radio transmitter, think belkin made the radio one for about $60

Had the FM transmitters, sound poo, as does the tape deck ones, but the VY/VZ's didnt have tape players (or mine doesnt at least, 6 stacker in dash).

There's a guy on LS1 forums that can add an AUX button and some RCA outputs etc, he's keen on modding stock decks for whatever reason. Also a company that do it via mailorder or kit form, just forget the name. Have a look thru the car audio section on ls1.com.au

Well I just did this mod (above post link) and it's the best free mod I've done to date. Found a RCA cable , cut it up, followed the guide and worked instantly. Better quality than ANY fm transmitter.

Just an update, was playin around with it more and used a mates Creative 20gb player.. works very good. Recommend this mod for anyone with the same deck and sick of burning cds!!

Considering I dont have a soldiering iron etc I cant do this mod. How long did it take you, how hard was it and how many 6 packs would it take to get you to do mine? lol

Havn't soldered mine yet to be honest, where you insert the red and white wire you just feed a bit into the hole on the circuit, and tape it up well, and tape the wire all the way so theres not really room for movement. I just did it to test and if it worked, and havn't bothered yet to fix it properly yet.

Also the guide says take the dash apart and run it through the cupholder, but I just ran mine through a hole at the back of the dash (where the back of the deck hits the dash there is a hole) and you can feed the cable in there and it runs to the passenger's side just below the glovebox, then I ran it along the center console to the center cupholders.

It is quite easy to do, all you need is coathangers to take out the deck, screwdriver to undo the bottom plate, tape, and RCA cable, and about 30 mins! Also when your doing it make sure to ground the 3rd cable from the rca plug to one of the screws on the bottom plate of the deck.
