Ok Ive got an R33 with a problem, was wondering if anyone know what it is and how to fix it. First sometimes at low revs but up to 3k the engine stalls, also around 4.5k - 5k the turbo seems to be held back?
Whats wrong, how do I fix it?
Thanks,
Wilko

Hey champ,
You going to have to be more specific and tell us what mods the car has?
When the engine stalls are you driving or idling. If driving, are you just putting around or are you taking off hard?
Have you checked the intercooler piping for any leaks? Are you running the standard fuel pump (if so I would suggest upgrading regardless of if it fixes this problem)?
When you say the turbo feels held back are you refering to it being slow to build boost, or is the car surging and shuddering?

Coilpacks?
coilpacks or spark plug gap
coilpacks, spark plugs (incl regap), clean afm are the obvious..

I thought I'd written coil packs too. Anyway....

id agree with sparkplugs and coil packs, clean the pod,
its a very common problem with skylines to miss or hesitate around that rev range, start with the cheap stuff first, even just checking the gap on the spark plugs, set them to 0.6mm, if your running any thing more than stock boost especially!!

gee whiz, how many times has this problem come up.
maybe make it a sticky.
if you have a RB25 that hesitates at about 4000rpm, its 99% of the time coilpacks or spark plug gap.

.6 gap is a bit much, i was running 26psi and only use a .7 gap. for light mods .8 is perfect (BCP6ES ngk plugs already gapped .8)

i had .8 on the mrs 180 and it was missfiring, set it to .6 and it cleared up, also a mate from work gapped his to .7 and it missed on 10psi 0.6 rectified it.
i guess every car is different

i put some iridium plugs for SR20DE into my car which is SR20DE+T cause guy said that the det ones wouldn't fit and i was unaware of all the gapping issues and stuff with them. had a gap of 1.4mm. wouldn't last past 4000rpm.
any one want a set of iridium nkg plugs for sr20de cheap. used for 5 mins.
re gap should be to 0.8 not 0.6

Hey guys, first post up here i guess hah, wandered over from p-wrx. Dont want to hijack too much but im getting minute (but still there) missfires when accelerating from roughly 5 thou+ in my MY00 WRX GC8. Especially in 4th and 5th.
Stock internals on an EJ205 with management by a PowerFC + FMIC,650cc injectors, bosch 910 pump, z32 afm,vf34 @ 18 lbs, Tenzo pod. Ohh and no spoiler, i got my eye on the spoilerless boot to be the problem!
Could this be the gapping on my spark plugs? Im going to shoot for some new plugs anyway, but was wondering what a good plug would be for myself to purchase.

gapping the plugs to small can also cause a problem as the spark is to small and weak.
Done this in petas car she gapped the plugs way to small and it would misfire and generally run like shit. Took plugs out opened up gap to about 0.8mm and car ran fine.
Dont know if its come up - but maybe your coils or sparkplug gap?

Thats just coil packs getting weaker and weaker. Gapping them down is a bandaid fix.
