DYI = Do Yourself In ?
Its a pain in the arse job on the floor as you have to lift the gearbox in and out.
Do yourself a favour and call either hyperdrive or ross at autoclutch ozzie park and get a quote !

DIY even :) , ... might be DYI if i stuff it haha , ive done a wrx clutch before but i have not tried a nissan and i can get some of the tools needed , but it will still be done on the floor with the car jacked up as high as it can go but still be safe , dont want a car droping on my head ... would suck a bit!.
i got a quote from autoclutch they charge $300 to install .. might go that way to save myself the pain :)

I've done an R32 and a wrx and the nissan was easier as there wasnt as much under car bracing. And the gearbox was lighter.
I reckon do it yourself and buy $300 worth of tools instead

Tailshaft out (mark it where it meets the diff)
Clutch slave off
Rear box mount/subframe off
Bolts around gearbox off
Pull gearbox out (change thrust bearing)
Pull clutch off (5-7 bolts around the edge of the 'fingers')
Pull flywheel off (either get it machined or get a chro-moly)
Pick out rear main seal (carefull not to scratch running surface of crank)
Push in new rear main seal FLUSH!
New spigot bearing into flywheel
Put new clutch assembly on, allign it before you do it up tight.
Pull gearbox back up and slide on.
Reverse of removal
Done :)

Do Silvia's need Spigot and Rear main changed with clutch?

I do it as a matter of course.
Last thing you want is you put the box back in and the thrust bearing shits it self and makes all sorts of bad squeeking noises when its not under pressure.
Im sure you could get away with not doing it.

Thrust bearing and Spigot bearing are 2 different things
The spigot bearing sits inside the end of the crank and help balances the gearbox shaft, thrust bearing pushes in clutch pressure plate.

I do realise this. Ever heard a noisy thrust bearing? Its like someones put a pigeon inside your bellhousing every time you get off the clutch. Its a PITA!
EDIT - I misread your first post. Sorry..... Id still do them anyway

I change the thrust bearing everytime, most clutches come with them anyway, but if they dont I do it anyway. Pulsars are the worse for them because if you dont replace them they get sloppy and fall off the fork and then its a right prick.
My Liberty had a squeaky thrust bearing, I got used to resting my foot on the clutch at lights to shut tweety bird up :)

you can be like me, if your spigot bearing is siezed, just use WD40 and be a cheapskate :D
n.b the spigot bearing has since been replaced, it was a sunday arvo and i couldnt get another one in time to have the car back together
