this thing is the sneeper of mitsubishis.

good luck.

now, i dunno about other pingpingpingpings, but i rekon if a mere mortal member of the public made a similar comment about a car a moderator was selling (lets say it was a liberty with a hybrid chasis) im sure that post would have been deleted by that(those) super active nazi moderator(s)

the mods on the forums have always had double standards

TJ

Why not click "report post"

post would be reported to all moderators via email, and it would have been removed.

in fact, ill act like you did, and clean the thread now.

thanks Dylan.

My post was made in reference that the thing was not having much luck. It seems that you have taken it differently to how I meant it.

Upon checking it, it seems many mere mortals user said much worse about my car. Thanks for giving me the chance to enforce the rule for all user, regardless if it was through interpretation, or plain negativity. Or was it ok to bag my car out, because its mine?

In the interest of openess and fairness, threads unlocked.

The thread in the url have been deleted what was it in reference to

More specific examples of other instances are welcome too

TJ

Might be a bit late for that Steve.

Ive just gone through and cleaned every for car for sale thread in page one of the car section.

Figured it wasnt being double standards if I only cleaned one thread that way.

Its like reporting a serious offense to the government.
Do it straight to them by yourself, you disappear into the night.
Do it in public, at least if you disappear, others know about it lol

(By the way, i've not been actively browsing this place enough to see anything of the sort, people are only human, but if they are moderators then they should at least be human enough to admit defeat :P)

Joe
13-02-2008, 04:31 PM
Chris, a reason was given for those.

Not to mention other peoples posts were deleted also (with reasons), and they weren't completely removed...just soft deleted (meaning that if I felt like it, I could undelete them).

iluv2moan
13-02-2008, 04:50 PM
u gave a warning..

"any more on the subject and the posts would be deleted"

didnt say a single word more, re-check the thread next day - any post which was aimed towards u was deleted. how about u show that u wernt offended and undeleted these posts, esp given 1 had a very legitimate suggestion to your cause

Joe
13-02-2008, 05:44 PM
I've undeleted that post you mention about your legitimate suggestion.

As for your original one, it stays deleted...

A word of advice. Stop "baiting" people just for the fun of it. You've done it lots of times and yes, you did it to me yesterday. If you want to make arguments, go to Northbridge and do it to someones face rather than on our forums.

I'm making a call on this and saying next time you blatantly do it or make a personal attack on someone ("why dont u say "go fuck yourself" 2 his face. that way we can see u run like a bitch"), you will be banned, for a month. The next time, it'll be 12 months.

Fair enough if you know the person, but a person of your calibre who is perceived as being a keyboard warrior really cant say a bad word to anyone without causing a retaliation. "Baiting" someone for the fun of it is not a legitimate excuse.

end of the day, its easy for us to critisize mods.

fark me if i could be bothered keeping up with the effort.

its not like we should openly display signs of gratitude n'sh!t, but this place doesn't exactly look after itself.

then again, mods should expect critisism. unfortunately.

its when concerns are raised and addressed publicly, are when a good admin teams shows its worth.

majority of the time concerns raised on antilag, its addressed seriously and with even consideration, generally, from what ive seen.

thats what we should keep in mind.

Was that directed at you???

NO it wasn't...I'm not going to explain myself in here again, the reason as to why I got pissed off at that email is in the other thread.

Seriously, what the fuck is your fucking problem?

P.S. Mod's won't ban me because I don't piss people off on purpose....I'm friends with a large number of people on this forum through meeting them out on cruises, or just having been involved in the scene for a very long time, and I like to keep it that way by telling the truth, being myself and being amicable where I can to try and come to good compromises with different or opposing parties.

Those who know me, will know I'm a decent person, yet I don't take any shit and I'm not scared of people face to face either. I also don't go around starting conflict either, but I'll finish it off or diffuse it when it does start. Thats why I'm a mod.

If you don't like it, or my authority, the Log Out button is in the top right corner of your window.

Thats about as much as I can handle, so take that as you will....feel free to push me further if you really want to, but I don't recommend it.

Passage GT

this is very true
rules need to apply to everyone, not just the mods and their buddy's

Joe
13-02-2008, 07:46 PM
Okay, from now on I'm enforcing the For Sale section myself...this seems to be a sore point with a lot of people

Same rules apply to everyone.

There will be no bumping. We have no need for this on the forum, as we don't get thousands of items advertised every day. Your post should stay on the page for at least a few days.

An post outlining an update of your thread, or a price change, or posting of pics is okay, as long as it is legitimate and not excessive.

No off topic posts either, only questions about the item for sale. Mods will need to follow the same rules.

IF there are any problems with this, or if you come across any breaches of this or any posts you want cleaned up, PLEASE PM ME, or report the post by clicking the report post button on the post.

And thats what it's going to come down to.

This place does not run itself, it requires a lot of time/money. Luckily I have VOLUNTEERS who donate their time to keep this place in check.

You'd expect a thank you every now and then, but instead we get people like iluv2moan bitching about their post getting deleted etc.

while mods just make their car for sale threads a sticky
The moderators DONATE their time to keeping this forum up to scratch, and you want to bitch about them making their for sale threads a sticky? You don't think they deserve at least that for giving up so much of their time?
They don't get paid, they don't get anything out of it, except a favour here and there.

why is it there is like 1000 members but only 3 or 4 complain ?

that cos no one else cares and the mods do a great job

neck up you parrots and go grab a can of harden up.

if a moderator stickying a thread really bothers you that much then im sorry but your a faggot.

Some very good points here.
I personally dont miss being an administrator / moderator. Some people tend to think the internet itself magically polices the forums. The mods keep it real yet hardly anyone realises the time and effort they have to sacrifice.

are you serious? the mods on antilag r not nazi mods. silviawa mods r nazi mods. i got banned for 2 days and put on warning cause i joked that i got anal for valentines day after a girl said she got flowers.

antilag moderators have a relaxed style of moderating and use their power when they feel it necessary. this allows everyone to have a good time and some funny shit to happen. if you feel that the antilag mod team are too nazi like then go back to silviawa.

Aggreed. different mods styles and requirements.

On SAU, when me and Scradley were advertising each others sh!t for sale... obviously joking around... they put me on banned notice... Which is fair enough i guess in behalf of the mods...

We did the same fake sales on Antilag and they were taken for the jest the ad's were intended for. jokes n'sh!t.

If that was directed towards me, how would not being paid warrant enforcing rules on only a select number of threads (..or maybe just one), out of many that contain something that is apparently 'against the rules' ?

..What does being paid or not have to do with it at all? That thread that was locked, lasted ..7 hours or so, the others have been around for months with many forms of bumps (price drops, the odd questions) but they havent been touched.

Just thought it was a little unfair, that's all.

Because people miss things? It's not a job and I don't think they can be expected to treat it like one.

Going through the FS Section today I noticed brockas locking a topic with this:
http://www.antilag.com/forums/showpost.php?p=296067&postcount=3

But there are plenty of other threads that are exactly the same that have been around for months that he hasn't touched.

I must have missed the other threads where members had started posting up their mates cars for sale after being on the forum for a total of 8 days.

That thread I locked, because I was making a point. The other threads I spotted that were "posted for a mate" were all deleted, and as such, you wouldn't have even noticed them missing.

"for a friend":
http://www.antilag.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19066

^ letting that one slip for 2 months?

Or is he in your circle of friends so it's k, Brockas? :)

Damn straight. Matt (the owner) was the one responsible for the Antilag Skid Pan Day. He has an account, just not access to the net much, least I can do is allow his car to be sold on here... got a problem with that?

It's pretty simple really, we don't do a lot of moderating anywhere except the For Sale threads, which we have to moderate a LOT.

I/we might miss a few, but you don't see the amount we do delete.

Thanks Clint. Not too many people realise this....we try our hardest, but we do miss a few things here and there, because we aren't moderating the place 24/7!!

If I did this 24/7, I wouldn't have a job...and I couldn't afford a car, to be part of the scene. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Fuck some people need to get over themselves.

Antilag is -

1. Privately owned.
2. Run by volunteers for lack of a better word
3. Free to use

Brockas pays a fair amount of money to keep antilag hosted, so people can come here daily/weekly/monthly/whatever to enjoy car and social chat. You do not pay to use the forums and the events. We do not charge for cruise maps etc. We do it for the passion of cars.

The rules are here to stop the place being over run by fuckheads, or people who want to use the places as a free classifieds. Unfortunately, being successful means the place seems to draw people wanting to be attached to the success, or knowing the forums are used quite a bit and their product will get exposure here.

However, rules are meant to be bent at times, according to OUR discretion. The moderators have lives, and jobs, and things to do, we dont see every post every day.

When we begin getting paid 25 bucks an hour Ill ensure every post ever made is checked. When the government buys it out and runs it like a company we will ensure every post is checked, then you can make an official complaint when we miss a post.

Until then, realise this place is driven by passion and people who give alot of their own time and money to do so. As a result, we will make exceptions where we see fit.

Well all I have to say on the subject is thank you to the Moderators who take the time to ensure that we have a useful, valuable forum to use and enjoy free of charge. Compared to other places, I think antilag has a very relaxed yet organised approach to moderation and management.

Damn straight. Matt (the owner) was the one responsible for the Antilag Skid Pan Day. He has an account, just not access to the net much, least I can do is allow his car to be sold on here... got a problem with that?

Although this gives a reason as to why that particular for sale thread was allowed to stay, I don't think the mods should have to answer to anyone. They have done a great job so far and obviously know what they're doing so let them do things to their discretion.

yeh ok fair enough he organised the skid pan and he doesnt have access the net, only your know that so unless u are going to point that out as a point as to why it was still open after a breach of forum rules people are going to see it as unfair towards their locked thread.

and the fact u posted "those rims make me wanna hurl" is pretty harsh..exactly wat point are u trying to make.

Guys, if you have problems with this forum... LEAVE.

The majority of people here don't whinge about stuff.
The admins do what they can, where they can, WHEN they can.

The admins deserve a little bit of respect, you could be in places where if you say one thing wrong to the wrong person you're banned for life.

You don't pay for the usage, yet we give up some of our time for keep this forum running how it is for the public, for people like you.

Suck it up princess, we need a little bit of credit.

But we dont have to tell anyone - especially Brockas - end of the day its his place, he can do as he sees fit. This is not a democracy, its a dictatorship. Lucky you have a friendly enough dictator.

The admin and mods answer to him, but suffice to say he trusts our judgement for the best part.

I sum these types of arguments up the same way, and nothing personal....

If you dont like the way we do things, or choose to ignore the rules we set, you dont have to be here. Remove yourself, or we can do it for you.

If you do however, enjoy antilag and being a part of it all, realise that sometimes the rules will be flexed as a reward for the time and effort we put into keeping the place running every day.

"Respect hahaha"

"To some people that's more important"

People are entitled to their opinions, voicing them on a public forum is what a forum is all about. Sure he was arrogant. Sure it may have come across harsh.
But that was his choice to say and do what he did.

If only you knew how much $$$ is thrown at this forum just to keep it running. You'd pay Brockas a little bit of respect yourself, and let him go on with what he's running well.

yeh the thing is..if i said something harsh like that to one of the mods, id be banned...then it comes rite back to the double standard bullshit(which the thread was started about). so in conclusion you must respect the mods, but they can say whatever they want to you... yes yes ??

Go to the front page, see the number of threads and posts this place has had in nearly 5 years.

A post here or there isnt going to end our world, their world, or your world.

If you like I can give you the weekend off to consider it?

Brockas, Fidel Castro.... same same?

Fair enough everyone appreciates that Brockas pays for the site from his own money and everyone appreciates the fact mods put in the term for no return (I know, I mod on other sites) but at the same time you gotta be consistant too

Until then, realise this place is driven by passion and people who give alot of their own time and money to do so. As a result, we will make exceptions where we see fit.

So basically your saying people buy the ability to do what they want? :)

Why not, it happens in all walks of life. Hasn't anyone told you it's not about what you know but who you know.

Here's an idea, start a donating members section. Quite a few forums have it, such as AFF.

BTW, what happened to the Muppet thread Brockas? I didn't get to add my "Beyond Blue" comment

Heres the difference - we have earnt the right to do so. You havnt.

So basically your saying people buy the ability to do what they want? :)

God no - not one of our moderators has paid their way in. The term money does not have to simply refer to cash - it refers to time, resources, etc etc.
For example there is probably 300 dollars of real world time and effort and resources that led to the creation of cruise 19. We dont ask to be reimbursed do we?

The moderators/admin have, however earnt it through sometimes years of dedication to the scene, and this place, or by contributing in other ways that are no ones business but ours.

Some of the top of my head

Ricey/Rhys - years of running qaulity cruises at their own time and cost that thousands of people have attended

MrMayhem - a true legend of the japanese scene in perth that has been here since day 1 and helped push drift in wa.

I could list every one of us, but its not really your concern. You stick to worrying about the 31 forums.
