Odd Starting Issue

Went to start my car up tonight, pop came from the intake pipe and when cranking the starter motor made a very odd noise, it was still cranking mind you and when i finally got it to kick over, the car was on 3 cylinders, gave it a rev and its fine...

probly the 4th time this has happened in owning the car, anyone with a microtech have the same issue ?

dunno what could cause the starter motor to make a funny noise and still crank mind you.

if the noise from the starter motor sounded like a sqwealing or scraping noise it might be that the bushes are worn, i had a car that used to do that for over 9 months.

new starter motor, new harnesses except the microtech harness/ecu

it almost sounds like the starter motor is going in reverse...

is that even possible ?

drive assembly possibly slipping or it was still engaged whilst cranking my guess-bit hard to tell without hearing
