Mine just shat itself today after a long 22 months of frequent use, how long have u guys waited for repairs by Microsoft for this? Need to get fixed before grand theft auto comes out or i'll be spewing

hmm few ppl have been gettin rings of death lately, 2-3 weeks is the usually turn around time i think.

GTA4 soon and from what i read you can play multiplayer on Live and have urself and 3 of ur homies rollin about in vehicles doin drivebys, sounds good to me!!

My xbox360 had the ROD after about 30mins of play too. I took it back the very next day, they logged it with Microsoft, swapped my HDD into a new one and I was on my way. Hasnt farked up since. One thing that I will note, is that the xbox only like to read discs when on its side (like a normal optical drive) Upright I get constant read errors regardless of disc condition.

I have GTA IV S.E on backorder. I too am dying to play it.

Glad microsoft extended the warranty period to 3 years otherwise mine would of been expired, phew! Mine has always been on a open-air shelf, horizontal, and had a cooler put on straight away (one of the good USB powered ones, not the dodgy mains powered ones that melt), seems to have lasted alot longer than most for an early 2006 build.

I had one of the 1st built ones and was pretty lucky it lasted aslong as it did. Ended up with 3RROD 4 weeks ago. So glad they extended the warrenty also!

well got my xbox back from microsoft today, plugged it in and straight away i notice the fan sounds like its loose and rattles its head off. Friggin retards, got a few flashing red lights & black screen on the first game i played aswell. Tried playing after a break and the red light didnt come back but fan noise is still there, would be easy to pull apart and fix but stuff losing the warranty....AARGH!!!

My fan was heaps noiser after it got fixed I think they inrease the fan speed when they rebuild em or put a bigger fan in.

i was told if u run an uncensored GTA4 version on Oz xbox live the game is automatically patched to the MA rating which is pretty dam gay in my mind.

A mate of mine has a hook up for a GTA 4 launch party, summin about get to play GTA 4 on a cinema screen and also get the game a day early.

haha nah mate, with the console off and completely unplugged and no cd loaded, and just gently rock it side to side. Was glad that i got it back before GTA is released, now it looks like i gotta send it back off again, shafted!

ricey, it will work no worries.. there is only pal and ntsc for games, no r4 and shit like like dvd's.

havent heard anything about a patch that you will have to get if you play eu version, but when it gets here i'll let you know! they printed different discs for the aussie market im pretty sure.
