Dash in my car is all working bar the tachometer.
It flaps around sometimes, other times it sits at 1000rpm, so i expect its the motor that drives the dial.
Anyone know a good place in perth to fix this?
Applied Instruments in Balcatta
the place is a fucking mess but they know their shit.
My brothers N15 does a similar thing, sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes it goes wherever, but it's usually ok...

might be a silly thing to try, but remove your dash cluster and clean the contacts on the plugs... works for me when i repair stuff at work. also make sure that the plug going to your distributor isnt crimped or such... thats where its getting its signal from i would assume.

Another simple thing, but worth a try if you have done it.
If you have pulled your cluster out to mod it before, also make sure you haven't pushed the needle back on too far and that it can move around freely. If you have pushed it on too far, it might be catching on the faces of the dials.

thanks for the hints, i currently have another dash in there to get me by, and the tacho does work fine on that one, so pretty sure its the dash.
Would keep it in there, but that one has a dead bulb haha.
bulbs are easy enough to change mate, the just un clip out of the back.

one of the flaws with microtechs, is the reading it gets from the crank angle sensors... causes most cars to jump around...
my lasers tacho has gone around a full 360 and stayed stuck on the 0rpm pin... after a drive it would flip back around
im sure its nothing major blake.
