Hi All!

Just rebuilt a gearbox (getrag 6 speeder) in a mkiv supra. Also the clutch and flywheel has been replaced.

when the clutch is out and in netural, its making a rattle noise.. also when changing into 1st 2nd 3rd etc it shudders when the clutch is engaged.

What do you think could be the issue here? The clutch and flywheel have also been replaced (for some reason) and they are standard items. Does a clutch require a bed in period.. (it hasnt been given too much yet) that will make that shudder go away?

parrots keep ya carbon dioxide to yaself people that have somethign worth please contribute ;)

Noisy thrust washer?
Wouldn;t cause the shudder though?

No it can't be the thrust bearing since the clutch is out. Does the sound go away with the clutch in while in neutral? It sounds like the bearings but you wouldn't think so since it was just rebuilt. And the shudder is what happens when the flywheel hasn't been machined. But you got that done too so i'm a bit stumped. Being a standard clutch it should be pretty smooth.

What happen's when you take off with some clutch slip slowly in 1st? Does it shudder then?

yeah it does.... it shudders when you change all gears. have a feeling that its POSSIble it could be input bearing wasnt replaced??

sounds very similiar to what happend with my car, i assume toyota run a 2 peice tail shaft? it could POSSIBLY be the bearing in that that is causing the shudder while taking off and shifting.

but a rattle while its in nuetral and disengaged sounds like input shaft problem

contacted the repairers about it?

Sounds like it could be the spiggot bush also.

Yeah you might be right because the spigot bearing probably wasn't replaced with the gearbox bearings etc.
They would have done something majorly wrong to have bearing noise on a rebuilt box.
