hi people

im not sure what the issue is here but have never came across something like this.

car is an s15 with auto gbox, 320hp atw.
was driving on the freeway, gave it a bit of squirt, noticed a lot of smoke in the rear miror.
had a look at the engine bay everything seemed fine. checked under the car and there was oil under the body, coming out of the gbox.
checked the level, all seemed fine.
but the dipstick burnt my hand and the oil smelt burnt, no change of color thou. nice and clear red. other thing was that when i pulled the dipstick out there was a bit of steam/smoke?? white color came out of dipstick hole?? i think meaning burnt oil???
anyhow, cleaned under the car and drove it was all good until the next time i gave it a bit. white smoke everywhere and oil underbody again.

another weired thing is that this is happened a few times now, i have checked the dipstick and the oil level hasnt changed a bit, doddy dipstick????mayb oil is low and there for is over heating??
now is this an issue with gearbox oil overheating? what temp is normal for transmition oil??
is this oil coming out due to high pressure?? may be out of a breather on the gbox?
is the oil too old and is overheating causing high pressure there for squerting out of somewhere?
changing oil might fix this??

basically i want to know what the reason for this is and how its fixable.

cheers

Seems like theres too much excess oil seaping. I have heard stories similar to yours, trans oil all under the car getting burnt onto the exhaust.

Check the oil level while the engine is turned on.

When you put it in reverse, does it take a while to engage and click in?

You could try getting a trans cooler. 320 pushing through a standard SR auto?? Danger zone! My gearbox has just given up few days ago from constant high temp abuse.

Do SR's run a in radiator trans cooler? or seperate?

The oil may be getting way to hot putting that kind of power down to the ground. Where the oil is coming from is a different story, seals, breathers, cooler lines, ect ect

also check non of ur lines are kinked n blocked, change the oil, check it while the car is running, get larger aftermarket trans cooler :)

it clean it all up and run the car, go for a slow drive, and then like 2km from home give it some so the problem occurs then quickly pull up in your driveway and see if you can see any oil leaking from the gearbox? it could be the extension housing seal is gone and oil is seaping past that and spraying onto the exhaust...? apart from that make sure the gearbox isnt over full with oil, give it an oil change, check all the trans cooler line, and even fit a larger after market unit to keep temps down..

you need a powerglide
shift kit, manual valve body and a trans brake
do some good skids then :)

i just installed a PWR/davies craig auto transmission cooler for my Nissan Stagea. Was an easy bolt up replacement for the standard useless cooler. I picked up the davies craig universal fitment (4.2L +) model for $139 from supercheap and had it on in under 2 hours. Noticeable cooler!

thanks for the input guys.
from what i have found out.
car doesnt have any oil leake wat so ever off boost.
under load after a few runs is when all the trouble starts.
drove the car off boost for about 100kms and no oil leak at al.
checked level, seems to be fine. im thinking mayb oil is too old, looks nice and healthy but will give it a change and see if it makes any difference.
will look into the oil cooler, i think high tempretures is the reason y this is happening.
does the stock one go through the radiator???

On the 1JZ it runs to the bottom of the radiator. Should be similar.

Redline Shockproof AT oil FTW.
