the only way i kno is to use audacity and go along and individually get each song and then save it as mp3 or whateva
it will take ages though

use a program called River Past Video Cleaner Pro.
You can compress/convert video starting from any timecode.
Either that, or I think windows video maker does it as well.

windows movie maker can split and save separate audio and video sections too
how small do you want to make them? and what format do you want to save them into? If you have nero you can use nero recode to split into mutiple CD or DVD size files but only in mpeg-4 format. You could always reformat these back to avi though

Did it come with a "cue" file? If it did, you can use the cue file + nero to "chop" it up into its individual song segments etc--> http://www.weethet.nl/english/cdrw_usingnero_bincue.php
Other than that....:(
