Looking at fitting a larger alternator in my car to combat the "dimming lights" and stalling when idling whilst stereo is going.
Looking at the iraggi 180amp alternator to suit my engine, is this going to cure my issue ? is this going to ruin my optima battery by overcharging it?
whats the pros and cons
any help would be great cheers.

Well assuming the regulator is good enough to discharge the unused/unwanted power, it wont harm your optima.
I still think a 100 amp capri one + a cap would suit better. 180 amps is a fair bit if the reg fails for some reason.

odds of regulator dying highly unlikely

well i see it like this, i can go out and buy another optima battery for the boot and run duel batterys, but ahving a 65amp alternator charing 2 batteries aint gonna change the situation.
already got a 770cca battery, which is more than ample i think. just sick of having the car stall.
